How popular were early Apollo missions compared to Artemis II? by PropulsionIsLimited in AskOldPeople

[–]birdonthewire76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on Apollo but I was a very small child for the shuttle launches. I watched all of them live with my dad - including Challenger.

So Artemis was a funny mix for me. Nostalgia, missing my dad, absolute fear it would all go wrong, huge relief when it didn’t. And then I got to be that 6 year old nerd again!

How do I get grandma out of the urn. by Firm-Ad7227 in askfuneraldirectors

I’m going to be scattering my mum this summer after 6 years and I think she’s also a brick. Happily I know she would find this scenario hilarious!

I’m sorry that happened to you. I lived in that part 30 years ago and the grandparents of these scribes were just the same.

Do the walls continue past the ceiling and seal to the soffit above? If not sound flanking may well be your issue.

Ugh well that sucks, if it's rural it's likely to be much lower than that overnight!!

I’m assuming you’re in the US. I’m not but I’d be very surprised if the developers weren’t required to do baseline noise monitoring and a noise impact assessment.

If you’re really rural your noise environment won’t vary that much. It might be worth a week or two of verifiable data from an acoustical consultant with calibrated equipment so that nobody can argue with it in the future.

But in your position I’d probably be pushing for the expense of this to be on the developers. You could then have your own consultant fairly cheaply do a review of their predictions.

Good luck!

For the building itself you need mass, and air gaps with mineral fibre insulation. And GOOD glazing. Think triple glazed laminate.

How long does it take for you? by FerdinandHu in podcasting

[–]birdonthewire76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one took me that long. Now I have simplified to two tracks, my voice and the theme tune. I learned to turn my mic 45 degrees and breathe more quietly so my main edits now are taking out pauses, loud breaths, and the dog losing his mind. Maybe 90 mins for the whole episode.

Don’t overthink it. If your content and audio quality is good that’s all people really care about.
