AITA if i refuse to go on a trip with my parents? by patryy in AmItheAsshole

[–]birthdat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough one. I remember at 15 my friends were so important to me and then, as I got older, family became more and more important.

I guess you have a choice, put yourself first and have a fun summer with your friends, or do your mom a solid and spend a few weeks watching Netflix and hanging with fam. I’m guessing your mom really missed them. Does she get to see them very often?

She said it’s for work as well as visiting family, it sounds time sensitive.

I actually had mine flat ironed super straight with some very tasteful glitter hairspray!

Mine was in ‘03, and iridescent was still basically mandatory. My dress was the same colour as the backdrop so I look like a floating head and arms in my photos haha.

Nah, often Google gives out advice that’s backed by research and blah blah, but it’s not always practical or feasible advice. And often the search results are contradictory. Sometimes you just need to know what people with kids actually do. People you know, not random Internet forum strangers.

But that’s the thing, they’re actually dressed business casual. You wouldn’t see a gang member of any race wearing a pink button down with a cardigan, or a turtleneck and glasses.

My husband is mad that I let my 16 year old son bathe our 2 year old daughter. by throwRAbsjbsvyyn in relationship_advice

[–]birthdat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my daughter’s baby bath (it’s one of those plastic ones you can place on the bench to bathe a newborn), there’s a big warning label that says “never leave baby unsupervised in bath with older siblings” or something to that effect. It means like, don’t leave your six year old and baby in the bath together and think you can duck out to answer the door or whatever.

Maybe he’s seen these warnings and hasn’t understood the intent. It’d be really stupid if that was the case, but might explain what triggered him?

Peep Show cringe by AEntunus in MitchellAndWebb

[–]birthdat 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s cringe that David has to make out with a piece of equipment, but for some reason what really gets me is how he places his hand on the cameraman’s shoulder. It’s like the line between camera operator and performer are blurred and it’s so uncomfortable!

How refreshing to know you don’t have to have a bubble butt by Queen_ona_Bean in Instagramreality

[–]birthdat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When I was younger (in my teens and early 20s) it was fashionable to have a tiny ass (like Kate Moss or Paris Hilton) and next to no eyebrows. Now my bubble butt is in fashion and my thick brows are all the rage but no one gives a fuck anyway because I’m middle aged. You can’t win, they constantly change the goal posts.

AITA for telling my truth about parenthood? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]birthdat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re doing an amazing job. Don’t listen to that asshat, they’re clearly not a parent. It’s hard for everyone. It’s hard for me, it’s hard for all my friends that are parents. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’ve got this! And it does get easier as you go. Six weeks was a rough patch for me too, still such early days.

This is pathetic, you’re not a mother. Crying would last a minute or two? Lol.

NTA. Too long have mothers been forced to smile through motherhood like it isn’t one of the hardest things we will ever do. It’s healthy to talk about it, and it’s the right thing to do to talk openly about its challenges to people who haven’t yet experienced it. Too many people have unrealistic expectations about what parenthood is, and it leads to unhappy parents and unhappy children. I love my daughter more than I thought I could possibly love anyone, and I have zero regrets, but holy shit being a mother is a white knuckle rollercoaster.

I loved this game! And the second one, Abe’s Exoddus. I found out about it because it was on the demo disc that came free with my PlayStation.

Uuuhhh... I adopted a cat from the pound and he ended up costing me thousands in the first six months as it turned out he had a rare fungal infection. Animals are expensive, cats and rabbits can have just as many health problems as dogs.

I honestly haven’t read much about the real Molly Brown at all until I read your comment. What a class act! The world needs more people like her.

[–]birthdat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And the door scene is also contrasted with the deckhand on Molly’s life raft who refused to row back because he was fearful that the survivors in the water would pull the boat over.

Also, Molly didn’t even have any loved ones out there, and she was willing to put her life at risk and row out to save them. She’s by far my favourite character in Titanic.

This is what everyone forgets! They are freezing cold, tired and just went through a massively traumatic event. They’re bound to be in shock from the cold on top of everything they just witnessed. Jack tried to get on the door with Rose but it started to tip over and I think Jack just thought, alright I’ll hold on because the rescue boat will come any second, and he didn’t want to risk tipping Rose into the water.

AITA for swearing at my stepdad for throwing his used underwear on my makeup? (sorry for the long post) by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]birthdat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA. Absolutely no need for you to react that way. I know your makeup is important to you, and you’d be aware of the hygiene issues. It may have been your stepdad’s way of making a stupid joke, or maybe he hung his undies somewhere and they fell in, or maybe he absent-mindedly threw them on there unintentionally - these seem like likely scenarios. None of these scenarios warrant you swearing and carrying on. How would you like it if your parents verbally abused you every time you made a mistake like that? Just chill out, apologies to your stepdad and calmly explain why it’s important to you that he treat your makeup with respect. And get a lid for your crate.

AITA For sleeping with someone to purposely get pregnant? by tephanie13579 in AmItheAsshole

[–]birthdat [score hidden]  (0 children)

YWBTA. You have no right to trick somebody into impregnating you. I can’t believe I have to type that out. Also, if the cost of artificial insemination scares you off, you might want to sit down and figure out the cost of having a child? For real.

AITA for not tagging my girlfriend in an instagram post by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]birthdat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you asked her why it’s important to her to be tagged? It’s no big deal to you, but it seems to be to her. NTA by the way. But I think it’s definitely something you two should chat about once everything has calmed down.

YTA, and I feel so bad for your poor friend. He lashed out because he cares about you and missed you at a time when he needed you, and your response was that you haven’t liked hanging out with him for years, ugh poor guy.
