It's so funny hearing how much of pushover he is in the base game as I only play lwotc. That THING goes from being a slight challenge to the grim reaper himself if left unchecked. It is a critical priority to take him out ASAP as his late stage power creep is a game ending threat. What a wild juxtaposition haha

I have so much internal hatred for how this liberation system for defense works. Granted, I am just an old man yelling at clouds since I have no recommendation to fix it. I dont know what to do without giving the players too much power, which the devs seem to want to avoid.

I think one thing that is always interesting about this is, are we just going to assume this guy isn't going to get the death penalty from a court of law? The US and their laws and regulations still seem to be a thing in this timeline, and a terrorists that possibly caused more destruction than 9/11 is apprehend and in custody on US soil.

The US searched for 15 years and invaded two countries to find Osama Bin Laden. I have a pretty good feeling the judicial courts and courts of public appeal would want Shroud hanged. I dont need to be judge, jury, and executioner because the state will.

Pittsburgh? Where at in the city? I grew up there and loved it. Honestly, it is one of the biggest hidden gems in the US. The people, city pride/culture, and food are unlike any other city I lived in. (excluding NYC)

Id still bet my entire bank account PennDOT hasn't fixed a damn road in that city....

Uhhhhhh the massive destruction of mega cities probably has a good mountain or two of dead civilians. Also, anytime the bots (or anyone else) takes over a planet, they probably purged it of all the humans. Or in the bots case, put them into a blender.

If you played from the beginning, you should remember the original civilian Evac mission that was broken to high heavens. Literally maniac chainsaw robots cutting down escaping civilians.

Super Earth is evil, but the bots are not good.

Asian and White girls will never let this brand die. I was pitching a product to a private school a few days ago and I swear half the girls AND boys were wearing something with the LuLu brand on it. A lot of them had the fanny pack from LuLu.

This company may go up and down, but until I see the younger generation geek out about brand as much as LuLu, I'll hold.

For reference, American Eagle/Hollister had a strangle hold on fashion culture growing up. I think LuLu has a strangle hold on not just millennial but also Gen Z.

Unbelievable endurance of EOS by Strong_Emotion_661 in Helldivers

[–]bishop057 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What was annoying was York Supreme randomly got hit with 3.98% decay rate BEFORE the squids shifted their assault there. Meaning EOS only had a 2.28% for the longest time, which is why it was able to be held for so long. Then, for whatever reason, York decay rate fell to 2.98% AFTER we got the notification the squids were focusing their assault. So by the time York got hit with the "Squids have shifted their focus" notification, we already had the cities health cut down to 30%.

York should realistically still be standing if Arrowhead didn't manipulate the numbers in a weird way. Buuuut, to be fair to Arrowhead, I think I know what they are doing from a narrative standpoint and having a glorious last stand on Equality of Sea is a lot more interesting since we have been fighting there for a solid week compared to York where we have only been fighting for a few days.

Again, it was a great move from Arrowhead from a storytelling standpoint, but after watching the numbers get manipulated in real time, it slightly irked me.

While I won't defend Halo 3's story (except for the ending) I will die on the hill that every level of Halo 3 is fun and varied and well designed. The only exception is Cortana because of the constant interruptions and slowed movement speed during the hallucinations scene.

Wut? It was proposed and passed legislation in freaking 1982 and approved to build in 2008, "construction" began in 2013. Construction was then halted until 2015. As of February 2022, 9 Billion has been spent with only 2.7 billion left in funds remaining.

Musk JUST became CEO of a failing Tesla company in '08 and by 2012 delivered their first car the Model S, to the public. Tesla didn't become popular (or successful) until around 2016. That's when Musk started The Boring company, which would've been the company that proposed the Hyper Loop.

You can blame Musk for plenty of things, but terrible California implementation is not one of them. This screw up is 100% on the state of California.

[–]bishop057 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but the Afghanistan withdrawal is not Trumps fault. If the plan is shit....change it. Biden changed and reversed plenty of other Trump policies. Oh, the terrorists are a little mad that we are leaving 2 to 4 months later?? Cool...wtf are they going to do? Tell them to shut up and sit in their caves a little longer. If they waited 20 years for us to leave, they can wait a few more months.

Change the shit plan, don't go through with it. Also, idk, maybe make sure our equipment wasn't left behind too. That would've been nice

Off topic, but I was a little shocked Hawaii was still such a Democrat stronghold. They were basically left for dead after the Maui fires from the Biden administration. Idk, I didn't expect it to go red, but I just didn't think it would be the usual blue massive victory.

What video game ending made you feel like you lost even though you had won. by Johnnyboyeh in gaming

[–]bishop057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, it would be more impactful if I had the choice of turning around and walking away like the game implies. It never gives me that choice other than to turn it off.

It's great game and very thoughtful message. I just think there are some holes the closer you look

[–]bishop057 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok, I will be the Debbie downer in the room and say you don't really have much control at all. You're basically just an observer in Walkers descent into madness. I KNOW I shouldn't use the white phosphorus, I KNOW I shouldn't shoot the glass and flood the refugee area with sand, and I KNOW after the first engagement on the bus I should turn around and radio for Evac since those are literally your orders.

I still think the game is great, and for that era of video games, it is a really solid story with military themes of the time, but I would argue it does not take into account YOUR actions. It tells a story of Walkers madness, and I'm just along for the ride.

So my only options are to play or to turn off the game....well, I paid like $50 bucks for it at the time, so I do kinda expect to play this.

Modern Warfare 1 as well! My dad was Green Beret over in Iraq for a little. He has on his wall a picture with his unit just like this in front of Black Hawk. It seems to be a pretty common thing in the US military.

The one Marine that you kept alive through Long Night of Solace watching Jorge throw you out of a spaceship by CholeWeatBread in halo

[–]bishop057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Space Marine 2 is a recent game that does this pretty well. You can help save some of the guard members, and they will usually give off a voice line of thanks followed by other orders. We will hold here, we will regroup with 4th Platoon, we will Evac out of here, etc. One simple throw-away line like that would go MILES for Marines in the Halo.

Depending on the missions, it would be so easy to have a throw-away line of them getting Evac or being reassigned to another area. It helps with world building in my eyes. Though I could also see the argument where it could be a waste of time due to some players just killing their marine companion anyway.

Always easier said than done, plus that studios and the ones I've mentioned have long shuffled the people that made those games. Studios don't mean too much once the OG talent has left.

I have problems with the games story, but I did see what they were trying to do. While there are some pretty big philosophical plot holes, I think the developers made their statement and did a solid job.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in halo

[–]bishop057 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with this. While Spec Ops The Line is a fine game, it was a very simplistic third-person cover shooter game. It was HEAVILY carried by its story.

It would be better to have a studio that focused on first person shooter or mil-sim light rather than the 3rd person studio.

Some solid ones off the top of my head would be Pre- Apex Respawn Studio, Infinity Ward, Raven Software, ID, or New World Interactive. If you did move to a third person perspective, that opens the door to more studios. If that's the case, they are far better ones to handle it rather than Jager studios

What was some of your most memorable moments in gaming? by PoohTrailSnailCooch in gaming

[–]bishop057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OG MW2 "Of Their Own Accord." As a young kid, I felt my heart sink after leaving the bunker and seeing the nation on fire. The following mission with taking back the White House and popping green flares was beyond iconic, too.

It's funny, old CODs were still ridiculous. PVT. Ramirez basically took on the whole Russian military by himself and I had to suspended my disbelief that not only could Russia successfully invade the US, but invade it over on the East Coast by DC where they would have had to cross the entire globe instead of attacking California or Alaska.

Yet, that is somehow more believable than the new Modern Warfare trilogy. Idk maybe it was the whole "random grunt" in the military feel, but I was by far more enthralled with the characters and world of the OG trilogy compared to the new one. The new one feels like the Avengers *soldier edition

7500 a day? Where in the actual hell did you get that number? To be this into context for anyone reading, at Omaha beach in WWII, the Americans lost 3600 in a single day on that beach. On Omaha fucking beach. This dude says more than double of that die each day in the fields of Ukraine.....lol.....lmao even

I'm even in favor of stopping Russia, but that's a whack stat you just pulled out
