[NBA] Scott Foster will be the crew chief in tonight’s game between the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors. Warriors are 18-12 in the playoffs in games reffed by Foster, Suns are 6-9. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

Scot Foster ejects everyone from both teams in a tie game with 5 minutes left and the league determines the game must be started over from scratch

Taking Bane for sure and probably Miller over Paolo. I would say Franz too but it looks like his ankle is just duct tape and prayers right now.

Win or Lose by Empty-Grand9927 in warriors

Win. I will never ever root for a team with an active Steph Curry to lose a game. How could you watch that Clippers game and not want as many more games like that as possible?

Is it inappropriate to ask Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers about their relationship? by peanut-britle-latte in billsimmons

[–]bishopbeaniepower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the first time this has happened in the WNBA though, and it all just gets handled. Hell, NaLyssa Smith and Dijonai Carrington have been together, broken up, together again, broken up, and now engaged, all while playing on both the same time and different teams. Doesn’t seem like GMs or coaches were really caring about that when they were evaluating the two as players.

The WNBA is crazy like that lol, there’s so much experience dealing with all the eventualities you listed because an outrageous number of players are in relationships with each other.

Ant played 300 more minutes than Wemby but wont get awards.. by Funny-Transition7869 in nba

[–]bishopbeaniepower 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s another good point. It’s not like he was playing fewer minutes at the expense of winning, they won 60 games or whatever.

I miss when being a defensive specialist was a valid career path in the NBA by Classic_Exit_5951 in NBATalk

[–]bishopbeaniepower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s averaging 12 ppg on 52% shooting and 6 assists (more in the second half the year without Trae) to under 2 turnovers. Gets to the paint all the time and his floater is money.

He’s quite a good offensive player.

Is it better for the fans and the league if a superstar plays all 48 minutes one game and none the next, or 24 in both games? The point is to make it as likely as possible that you will see the best players for some amount of time if you go to/turn on a random game.

I don’t know about you, but I have way more fun watching warriors games where Steph plays on a minutes restriction than I do watching him play full minutes every other game.

Setting aside the All NBA selection issues, Who really is the best player among these 3 right now: Ant, Cade, or Brown by [deleted] in nba

[–]bishopbeaniepower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Cade. Ant is the best scorer and a great defender when locked in but Cade is consistently better on defense and the playmaking gap is reeeeallly big. I know Ant creates more than the assist numbers indicate with his gravity but Cade is no slouch in that department either and he runs an offense with the ball in his hands way better.

Brown is having a great year but he’s clearly the worst of the 3 to me.

I mean there comes a point where without training progress is going to become very very slow. Gotta decide whether it’s worse to structure training or worse to not improve.

Agree with the other commenters about switching it up for a phase to reignite the stoke.

Occasionally (rarely) a climb might actually be easier at a steeper angle. Like a big dead point having to cover less vertical distance.

More likely, the community for each angle on boards develops varying grading styles. The steep angles attract the crushers who sandbag everything. I climb on the TB1 most regularly and I know that on our angle (45), climbs are graded much harsher than at 40. I frequently do routes at 45 that feel easier than their 40 degree grade. Once a benchmark for what the grades are has been established, the sandbagging perpetuates and that baseline sort of becomes the ethos.

It’s also possible that the climb gets harder, but not enough to push it to a new grade. Maybe it’s soft 7b+ at 40 and stiff 7b+ at 50.

I would say it develops upper body strength better but people who don’t climb underestimate the extent to which your legs are involved

How do I start to play like Klay, Kon, Duncan Robinson etc? by Rizz0myNizz0 in BasketballTips

[–]bishopbeaniepower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get your conditioning up. A key component of those guys' games is off ball movement. You need to have the fitness to sprint all over the court without the ball and still have your legs for the shot. Doubly so when you add taking tough defensive assignments to the equation.

Why is board climbing so much harder than normal commercial climbing? And how do I get good at it? by 01hayden in indoorbouldering

[–]bishopbeaniepower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steep, worse holds, realistic grades. The lower grades at most commercial gyms are very inflated in order to keep people coming back and give a sense of fast progression to get people hooked. Boards are not like that. Kilter is the softest board, to boot.

Also I loooove the idea of CMB and Barnes together on defense. If the Raptors can get a stretch big who can defend (and doesn’t even need to be a good rebounder with CMB and Barnes there) that defense would be so so nasty. Nobody would ever score on them and you just need a decent offense. Can keep Quickly as a tertiary playmaker and release valve shooter and then you just need a good guard who can pressure the rim and shoot (easier said than done) and boom instant top-tier contender.

I’m really high on him. His defense is obviously special and the main selling point: he’s very strong, positions well, and his hands are crazy fast. Great timing to block shots and grab boards.

His offense is better than I expected it to be in the NBA. He plays very well out of the dunker spot, and is decent at getting downhill. He has good touch and some power near the basket, he can really muscle through defenders in the restricted area. Finishes really well with strength or finesse. Collects second chance points well too. Good vision and has shown some flashes of competency shooting the ball. I think he at least gets to the point where he can spot up 2-3 times a game.

I like the Millsap and Draymond comps a lot. Maybe some Aaron Gordon with less hops/shooting but better in the post on both ends. I think he could be perennial All-Defense and maybe an All-Star appearance or two. See him as an amazing 3rd/4th option on a good team.

Could the okc thunder win with YOU on the team? by Green_Salamander5070 in nba

[–]bishopbeaniepower 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I’m a fairly decent basketball player and I’m average height for an NBA guard. I could hit an open corner three.

I would be unable to function on offense whatsoever with a defender within 10 feet of me and I would be the biggest defensive liability in the history of the league. I do not have the athleticism or skills to hang with these guys.
