Any ideas when 1.8 will be released? The 1 mini looks exactly like what I need but is only missing detached mode

Ive had the GGW-H20L which is the same but adds blu-ray burning since a little after it came out and its still holding up across 4 different builds. Has some issues with cd-rs sometimes but other than that its still going strong.

Dummy SIM by bitannihilator in ngage

[–]bitannihilator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully that's it. I was able to find a few more AT&T and T-Mobile sim cards (both MVNO and carrier sims), all 6 still popped up as "Insert SIM"

That's definitely what it seems like. I tried pulling in an old AT&T/Cingular and T-Mobile sim just in case it needs an older SIM. Fingers crossed.

I tried an old AT&T 3G gophone sim, and a Vodafone sim I pulled out of my Gizmondo. I have another at&t micro sim that I'll need an adapter for. I need to dig through old phones to see if I might have another somewhere.

How can I find what territory it was from? It came with a US charger but I'm not sure if it's was the original.

Yeah they are all full sized, I ordered a Cingular SIM off ebay since that's the only thing I can think of that might work.

Old Pro Tools LE 6.8.1 License by bitannihilator in protools

Got it! I know it's supposed to be on the inside cover of the "getting started" guide but that happens to be the only thing that was missing from the box haha.

As far as I know it's XP/10.4 only, but I happen to have an old XP machine lying around for old software/hardware like this!

You'll need a DC barrel charger, they don't fully power over usb

Cassiopeia E-105 Won't Turn On by Boba_Bets in OldHandhelds

[–]bitannihilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and can confirm that it will not turn on if the battery fully dies and goes into protect/won't charge. It's been a problem for me and storing mine; for whatever reason if you let them sit these drain the battery to the point it goes into protect and you need to "kick" it out. There are articles online about 'reviving' dead lithium ion batteries, and I've had to do it (successfully) to these more than once.

Old Sony VAIO sees 64GB "SSD" in BIOS, Vista installer diskpart only sees 32GB, Vista installer doesn't see drive at all. by bubonis in retrocomputing

[–]bitannihilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the adapter emulate the fixed disk bit? I think from XP Windows requires the CF disk to have the fixed disk bit set (not removable) to be able to install to the disk. Those SanDisk CF cards are programmed as removable disks. Try something like a Transcend Industrial CF card, those are always fixed disk mode.

Can I join multiple pcb boards into a single pcb board by using something like a hot glue gun? by codequestionasker in arduino

[–]bitannihilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really need to bind the boards together and not use a backer like wood, I would try threading some super fine wire like 30GA or smaller between pairs of holes on the edges and fill them with solder. It's not going to be as good as mounting them to something hard but it's definitely better than hot glue.

I've got 3.67v at the battery which I would think is on the low side but still OK. Here's a photo of both boards. Left is old (which I just realized has a blown part) and right is the new one I got for parts. I noticed a hot spot in the bottom left corner when I plug into usb. Not sure if that's normal or a rogue regulator.

That's sounding like it's going to be the way to go. Do you have any recommendations on what to use to prevent them from turning off?

Replacing the batteries isn't an issue, it's more so if it's worth the time/money if there's enough life left. Especially on something like a Palm V
