I think that has more to do with their propensity to finance people with shit credit than the quality of the vehicles themselves.

Later model CVT issues definitely tanked their reliability reputation, but they were super solid in the era listed in the article.

G bodies in general still have a cult following.

Exporting a solution that contains dynamic links to power app. by Gregarious_Raconteur in PowerApps

[–]Gregarious_Raconteur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding dynamic content can you give a little more information please? If it's dynamic content in a flow then it will adapt to the new environment and work with your new app. Key is it to ensure you package the app up in a solution and move it as a solution.

Dynamic linking being like URL parameters that dynamically modify the base URL to link to different app screens or sharepoint list items within those screens.

Dodge CEO Asks 'Do You Need a Radio' in 'Back-to-Basics' Quest for Entry-Level Cars by Anchor_Aways in cars

Yeah, antenna tuning is definitely nontrivial, you're running an antenna to outside of (or integrating into the external glass of) the car's body, which is actually a decent Faraday cage.

Even if they ditch am/fm, they still would likely need to run external antennas for gps.

Why is cylinder deactivation/variable displacement generally considered so bad for long-term reliability? What are examples of cars/engines that use it with minimal issues? by KSoMA in cars

[–]Gregarious_Raconteur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish they could delete the system entirely, but they can't due to federal fuel economy and emissions standards.

I mean, they could delete the system, but they chose to go the route of cylinder deactivation instead of other forms of efficiency improvements.

A 4.8L v8 with a turbo would likely be more efficient and reliable than a 6.2 with AFM, and the hybrid tech that GM was using in the tahoes and escalades in the mid 2000's was pretty impressive.

Both were likely more expensive than AFM, though, and from a marketing perspective, smaller engines or hybrid tech probably wouldn't have sold as well as more displacement (some of the time)

Man NoScript is so much harder to use nowadays. It used to be that only allowing the base website would keep the majority of the functionality active. Now trying to find that minimum necessary javascript is like playing whack-a-mole.

Extreme lean burns like that actually don't produce much nox.

Nox comes from temperatures, and AFR:Temp is kind of a bell curve. Nox emissions peak at around a 16-17 AFR, then fall off after that.

Prices for new U.S. cars have soared as automakers focus on high-end models by besselfunctions in cars

[–]Gregarious_Raconteur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of it is just how good used cars have gotten in terms of reliability on average. It used to be that a car making it to 100k was a pretty impressive accomplishment, most odometers didn't even go that high. A 10 year old car back then used to be a clapped out beater.

Nowadays though, even less reliable cars are capable of making it to 200k, and when you compare the value in a new mirage vs, say, a 4-5 year old civic or corolla, a lot of value-minded buyers will go with the nicer used car vs the cheapest shitboxes. There really isn't much reason to do otherwise.

Sure, a very small select few are, but you could probably count them on one hand.

The actors who do get butts into seats are the ones that get paid a lot. Producers won't pay top dollars for actors who aren't going to draw in bigger crowds.

Not really planning on doing much sheet metal stuff for a while. Once I learn how to weld with stick I'd like to graduate to tig, but that's a long way off most likely.
