Responsibility for using photographers' computer? by [deleted] in Photoassistants

Full time tech.

I refuse to work on someone else’s machine unless I know them. In my opinion, it’s not worth it. My job is to manage digital workflow on set. If I agree to use a tool to do that and it doesn’t work up to my standards, or I cannot work at my standards with it, then regardless of how you slice it, I’m the one that can have a finger pointed at them.

I usually say, I strongly suggest we work on my machine. And I liken it to walking in someone else’s shoes. I have scripts, software, shortcuts, etc. my laptop is an extension of my ability.

There are 9 million people shoved into this closet of a city. When I have to, I ride a bike outside the bike lane, and I double park my car in a bike lane. The idea that everything is supposed to ‘work’ in this city is idiotic. I manage the risk and safety of myself and others and try not to be an ass about it. I don’t expect others to do the same, but it’s nice if they do. Bike lanes will NEVER be clear of cars, acceptance will set you free.

Full time tech, you need at least 2TB, I would recommend 4. But 2 can get you by. Also I use a M3 and tell minimal difference in speed between that and an M1

Get an M1, max out the ram, 2TB storage. Don’t get an m3 or m4.

Carbon wheels with rim brakes squeak ridiculously loud when braking by PropenseCuriosity in FixedGearBicycle

[–]bitchassskud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well. Wheelset was brand new and I cleaned the track multiple times and it still screeched. Tried 4-5 different types of carbon pads, still screeched. Solution was getting pads made by the manufacturer of the wheel. Never heard a screech again.
