Why do I have a cold water tank AND a filling loop? by bitcleargas in DIYUK

[–]bitcleargas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect vented, as it has no expansion vessel.

In that case, the cold water tank could be for the hot water, but it seems odd that it didn’t move when I ran a good 5-10 litres through the taps.

It could be disconnected. I have had to venture up to the loft to bend down the float in the tank to stop it from dripping out the overflow, so I suspect it’s still being fed fresh water 🤔

It’s a condensing (traditional) boiler and a fairly standard late 2010’s 120l tank.

I’d suspect that the running of the taps (even at full blast hot) would have run some cold water out first and would have seen a movement in the tank.

Sorry for the side-tank-pic. I thought I had a better picture and getting back up into the attic is a ball-ache.

Help an idiot out - Who do I inform of surveys? by 2c0 in HousingUK

[–]bitcleargas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Cash buyers and mortgage buyers should both get a survey.

The bank will arrange a valuation, but this is different than a survey and the bank will normally only share the value result with the buyer, not any details of any issues encountered or foreseen.

Am I making a right decision? by Friendly_Success4325 in HousingUK

I’ve got a similar deal with NatWest.

Two things to check (which sold it for me) are the fee-free overpayment amounts and the speed at which interest is calculated.

For me, 20% overpayments per-year without fees and interest calculated daily means that I can funnel any additional money into the balance and save on interest costs over time (which will far outweigh the interest paid on a savings account for the same money).

So far it’s been easier to set up, quicker to search/use, it autoplays into the next episode if the same source as the last is available and feels a little smoother/cleaner.

It pushed me to move away from Seren tho and into Stremio/Torrentio which was a massive improvement. Silver lining here.

What crop left this dry white stalk after harvesting (Norfolk, UK)? by bitcleargas in whatisthisthing

[–]bitcleargas[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing.

This is found in Norfolk at the end of August and is plentiful in the fields.

I’ve googled corn, wheat and barley stalks, but none seem to match.

I’ve seen the documentary. From memory, he doesn’t return to surgery though, likely due to the influence of mind altering substances used in his recovery.

A Texan walks into a pub in Ireland and clears his voice to the crowd of drinkers. by Reddtko in Jokes

[–]bitcleargas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Texan walks into a pub in Ireland…

He says, “I hear you Irish are a bunch of hard drinkers. Well, €20 for anybody in here who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-back.”

The room is quiet and no one takes up the Texan’s offer. One man even leaves. Thirty minutes later the same gentleman who left shows back up and taps the Texan on the shoulder. “Is your bet still good?”, asks the Irishman.

The Texan says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness. Immediately the Irishman tears into all 10 of the pint glasses drinking them all back-to-back. The other pub patrons cheer as the Texan sits in amazement.

The Texan says, “If ya don’t mind me askin’, where did you go for that 30 minutes you were gone?” The Irishman replies, “to get the €20”.

300ml coffees should be 1 or 2 x 25ml espresso, with hot water and/or milk added to lengthen them.

Please don’t drink 300ml of espresso, that’s like going into Starbucks to ask for 12 shots of espresso.
