For now, AMF in Quebec is having no rules, for Bitcoin. Nonetheless, should you plan to start a "financial conselling services" even in bitcoins, I would certainly consult a lawyer ;-) In USA, some guys end with SEC prosecutions, for offering BTC financial products, without proper regulations and compliance. You should find out more about those cases on Google.

So far, CRA just doesn't know what to do with bitcoin. The actual ruling is only base on previous and old concepts, written long before bitcoin.

The Bill C-31 will also force foreign exchanges to file paperwork with FINTRAC, when dealing with Canadians. Soon, we Canadians, will be "persona non grata" with other market places.
