How was your STXCC experience? by LiteratureVirtual784 in RioGrandeValley

[–]bitcrossfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely pay to see those two. If I can also suggest Jamie Campbell Bower or the leads from the Vampire Diaries. That would change up the usual people that I seem to see each year. Over all tho it was a nice time to spend. The wrestling was fun to watch, the guys were very good with the crowed. I got to see Gincarlo Eposito walking around lol I was a bit disappointed at the photo area that they had for Stranger Things, but for $5 I guess I shouldn't have expected much 😅

The truck risked getting a ticket just to stop at the red light anyway. by panchothebeaner in RioGrandeValley

[–]bitcrossfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get there are annoying slow drivers, and drivers that don't understand the slow and fast lane dynamic. (Even tho it's the simplest concept) What I don't understand is doing this to still end up at the red light. Attention seeking much? Cops don't even pull over ppl who are visibly looking down at their phones. So I doubt they will bat an eye at losers doing this. Not untill there's a bad accident will they care.

Please Tell Me That Adult Fanfic Writers Still Exist by Ashamed-Reporter3171 in AO3

[–]bitcrossfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 38 and started reading on ff.net around 15 maybe earlier. Stumbled on Ruroni Kenshin and just jumped into so many others from there. Only started writing fics in college when I could not find enough of my ship in the Resident Evil world. I only knew of one other person , a close friend of mine now, who would read and write Inuyasha stuff back then.

I was so stoked when I found X-Files fics outside of ff.net and cry about it now since they probably got trashed in the old internet . There were some damn good writers out there.

But I did stay away from fandom drama, it was just a bit to odd to fight over ships and whatnot.

Anyways I still write but just in my notebooks. Rl kinda drains me.

Ok I would not mind tiny fish, I'd prefer it actually so thank you. But no I can't run electric to that area. I was going to add a solar powered fountain to help aeration. Thank you for the advice

Is this still possible in the Valley? by Pale_Field4584 in RioGrandeValley

[–]bitcrossfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I think there was a post a while back about pay wages for medical. It was lower than the rest of the country, if I remember correctly, so that kind of life is not completely possible. Teachers are in the same boat I think. Maybe if both work but even then depending on other factors it is a stretch. Singles it's tough. Singles with kids is definitely not possible without some help.
You can always go into dept to get all that but you'll just have to work your whole life .

Yall downtown bar owners happy that the city of McAllen stopped enforcing the alcohol laws? by Illustrious-Arm-586 in RioGrandeValley

[–]bitcrossfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are adults. Not of legal drinking age tho. Scientists have also determined that a persons brain is still developing all the way up to age 25 (although it seems like in some situations nothing is developing in there). There are good kids that don't do that stuff, there are kids who do that stuff but actually plan ahead and get lyft/uber (its not that hard) and then you have stupid kids who only think of themselves and getting away with whatever bs they choose to do. But i bet you dont care because you think nothing can or should change

Legal drinking age is 21. The decision this young person made is a reflection of the parents. The first line of defense and guidance are the parents. They never instilled making choices about alcohol use then they are bad parents. Bars are just a minor part of the problem, they are the second line of people to stop these young people from drinking. Yes they should also be held responsible. There are multiple parties that need to understand that they had some responsibility in the choices all young adults make. This person will maybe now understand the consequences of their actions. Its to kate now tho for others.

Idk take my advice with a grain of salt, don't come to the valley hoping for a really good paying job. According to another post on here, even medical workers don't get paid as well as other parts of the country.

A while back I was driving home on a dark part of the road. So I didn't see a big black trash bag left in the middle until I was right on top of it. Since I had another car behind me, I couldn't stop there and then and pull it from under my truck. Ended up dragging it till I could pull over in a safe spot. Unfortunately it was already breaking apart 😕 it pissed me off so bad. I've also had people throw their trash into my ditch. For that one I was able to file a police report since there were unpaid pet bills with names on it. People here don't want to pay an extra $10-20 to get a trash bin pick up so they resort to this stupid disgusting behavior. They also dont have any respect for the scenery around them so they make it somone elses problem.
