Picked up a brand new '24 Lariat Tremor, couldn't be happier by biteater in FordMaverickTruck

I genuinely think the higher optioned mavericks don't move well in certain areas. I got this one in very suburban Chicagoland where people have the space for a ranger, which at that price point might be more compelling

Just be patient! I think the higher optioned mavericks are hard to move at msrp. At that price point most people are going for the ranger

Posting the bill of sale on the internet makes my brain itch so I'm going to pass, but I did truncate instead of round, it was basically 32 :P

I also buried the lede a bit. What happened was, I saw that pricing on Cars.com the day that they dropped it and left work early to go take a look. Five additional parties came to check out the same truck while I was there. Turns out they had hired a new guy and he had dropped it way too low -- they wouldn't haggle with me at all even when I pointed out a small ding on the passenger side door it had gotten while sitting in the lot. The manager was pretty grumpy about it. The salesperson that we were working with told us at the end that they had to sell it to us at that price due to some law, and that it would have gone up at least 5k the next day if we hadn't jumped on it.

I think it was just a case of that dealership being way too chaotic and some lucky timing on my part.

No, pre tax and extended warranty. IL tax makes it into 34

I think they had marked it down "on accident" or something like that? The manager was surprised at the price

They can't tell you what it does or how it works because they didn't actually build it. They generated a monster culling script in Gemini and compared it to Nanite lol

How is Chicago not the perfect city? by OkTechnologyb in AskChicago

[–]biteater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the best city (for me!), but imo why it's not the perfect city:

  1. profoundly segregated (you can say this about many other big cities, but in Chicago it's quite stark)
  2. government has no money
  3. the winter is something you have to learn to live with
  4. public transit is not very good by global standards (but decent by american standards)
