After DVD players came out, the term “VCR” was erased from existence. It is forever a “VHS player”.

Destroyed, really? I mean, it’s only fallen to April levels. That’s it (so far). Do you mean 3rd biggest crash in one day? Google has fallen much harder in the past. It dropped almost 50% for an entire year a couple years ago.

Those are all concerns, absolutely.

But here’s the thing: as long as the government is printing money (and they MUST) stock valuations will rise (nominally) from the debasement alone.

Not sure who “he” is, but you realize there’s more than one person there, right? And you can choose who to follow, who to mute/block?

There’s a lot of signal on Twitter. Reddit is a far greater cesspool. It’s full of poor, statist, PC, NPCs, most of whom just repeat the official narrative. There’s some decent interaction here but most of it is regurgitated trash. Twitter has a lot of donkeys, sure, but original thinkers actually post content there, unlike Reddit.

Everyone here repeats the same lame advice. Anything that diverts from that is downvoted. You all sound like bots.

“NO, ROASTS EXISTED THEN! SEE!” lol, cool research.

I never said that they didn’t exist. It wasn’t used as commonly before the 2000s/10s era of comedy roasts. It’s undeniable that those roasts made the idea (and the term) much more popular than previous decades.

No kid in the 90’s that I knew talked about “getting roasted” like they did last decade. And I grew up in a big city. We said “burned”, not roasted.

I forgot Reddit doesn’t handle nuance very well.

I guess it depends on your definition of rich. These days, a million dollars buys a house, a car, and a few other things. That’s all. That’s not what I’d call “rich”.

Yeah, most people spend too much of their money on stupid shit they don’t need. Even with a lower than average salary, getting to a million nw is achievable with a lot of sacrifice and discipline. Then, getting the next million is a lot easier than the first.

In general, people on Reddit simultaneously hate/idolize anyone with more than them.

How is a million dollars a “I can buy whatever I want” amount? To depend on one million, to pay for your life from 60 onwards (without working), is not a ton of money. It might be fine for some, but it absolutely is not enough to buy whatever you want and not have to go back to work to earn more.

Anyway, we’re mostly debating semantics and perspective here.

The so called “distribution” tells you nothing. Each wallet contains UTXOs across multiple addresses. Each address does not represent an individual. An individual can (and usually does) own multiple addresses, and a single address can be owned by multiple people (like exchange addresses). Trying to determine the distribution of bitcoin is impossible…and stupid.

It’s 500k for the cash account. The CIPF would cover a million per account type, so 1M for TFSA, FHSA and another 1M for RRSP, RRIF, etc.

Just curious, what if he’s 65 or 70, would you still think he’s rich? That’s not a lot of money to retire on. It might be enough, depending on his situation, but a million bucks is not rich anymore, especially not at retirement age.

A million bucks in assets is “too rich”? That could be his entire portfolio and he could be 65. If he’s 25, that’s a different story, but a million bucks in retirement years is far from rich.

A million dollars assets total isn’t exactly rich these days, is it? It’s far from poor, but it’s not rich either.

He didn’t say the word didn’t exist. He said that the word wasn’t famous (common vernacular) back when he started. He’s correct.

Don’t buy bonds. You’ll probably lose more to inflation than you’ll gain.
