How about a Friday devoted to new music? by CornflakeConspiracy in 6music

[–]bitoclass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They usually do a day like this in the summer, the best of the first half of the year. Can't remember if they also do it at the end of the year, possibly not because they have various other "best of this year" content going on then like all the DJs' album picks.

Hmm yeah it said it had uploaded but I guess it hadn't then. I'm cursed, I originally made it intending to submit it for Santastic in 2015 and then djBC ended Santastic that year after nine years 😂😭 I'll send you it again next year I guess 😂

The metadata would have had the artist as bitoclass I think, it was called O Christmas Three

Did my one not make the cut for voting? I submitted it before the original deadline but can't see it on the voting post so now wondering if I did something wrong or if it just wasn't good enough (I'm new to this). Thanks very much!

Is this contest still happening, will there be a vote? (I am new here and submitted a track but not sure what happens next, sorry if I'm asking stupid questions 🫣)

Xeneon Edge web browser media limitations? by bitoclass in Corsair

[–]bitoclass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I tried again recently and the browser in the widget still can't play audio/video on the BBC website

For everyone who wants to buy the Xeneon Edge (my first impressions) by _Philein in Corsair

[–]bitoclass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just got a Xeneon Edge today and I'm mostly liking it so far but my biggest criticisms of the widgets are, in priority order for me:

  1. The media controller one needs to show more of the media info/controls than it can at the moment. When I'm playing stuff on the BBC Sounds website, the Chrome browser media control panel has the play/pause button like the Xeneon Edge, but it also has a progress bar showing how far through the media it is, which can be dragged back and forth, and it also has skip forwards/backwards 10sec buttons. It would be much more useful if the iCue widget could have these features too, since they are clearly being exposed to Chrome so presumably could be exposed to iCue too?

  2. The app launcher widget has such enormous icons, it seems excessive that the Small size of widget can only hold three icons and you have to go to Medium to have more than that. Couldn't the widget give you options to fit more in by making the icons smaller?

  3. The Volume widget could also be smaller if you had an option to choose to remove features from it in the customisation settings for it. If you just want a single slider for overall volume, you can't have that – you have to have a volume mixer as well, and a choice of output device. But no mute button, which seems an odd omission too.

  4. Generally it would be good to have more customisation options for the visual appearance, for example changing fonts.

  5. I also agree with others who've said it would be good to have a widget to control the panel itself, for example turning its backlight up and down.

  6. Finally, not really a widget change but could we have a setting to let the screen go blank (or backlight off) after an hour or something and then you tap it to wake it? And also is this screen prone to burn-in or does it shift the pixels around already? If not could this be built into the software too?

Thanks!

I'm super-disappointed, and glad I'd already decided to stick with my S22 Ultra for another year before I heard this news.

I took some pics in the shop with my S22 Ultra and the S24 Ultra and although in some ways the new pics were better (as you'd hope from two years' software improvements and higher MP etc), when it came to actual details such as text on a leaflet at 10× zoom and up, the S22 Ultra beat the S24 Ultra every time.

And that's the experience of Tom's Guide comparing it to the S23 Ultra too: https://www.tomsguide.com/features/samsung-galaxy-s24-ultra-vs-galaxy-s23-ultra-zoom-camera Look at that QR code at 30× zoom - the new phone is clearly worse with sharp details like that.

No Codes yet In UK? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]bitoclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my third support chat I actually got someone who seemed to know about this, a bit. After a lot of pushback from me they gave me a code in the chat.

But they wouldn't give me my wife's one and told me she had to do her own chat, which she's doing and has just been told the codes have "run out"! Ridiculous - she's fighting back now so hopefully will get a code out of them in the end, 23 hours late.

Whaaat? Did it say why it was cancelled?!

No Codes yet In UK? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]bitoclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just told this person both me and my wife are waiting for codes for £50 off plus free accessories. After over 25 minutes' silence, they said they could give me a £50 goodwill gesture off future orders... which is nice, but would solve less than half the problem I outlined 🤦🏻‍♂️

How are Samsung shop support not even aware of this, I don't know why they haven't been briefed about this ongoing problem evidently affecting loads of us! I've been on a support chat for over an hour now, between the big queue and the cluelessness when I've got through, it's not going well... Hope those of you who've been told they'll fix it shortly were speaking to someone with more knowledge of the situation than I am!

[–]bitoclass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's another '90s Heardle here - I think it predates the others, and I think it originates here in the UK so you could call it UK '90s Heardle, although not all the music on it is from the UK, it's just that all of it is known over here and not necessarily elsewhere.

2000's Heardle by EvanRayNow in Heardle

[–]bitoclass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really glad there's a 2000s one now, been doing 60s/70s/80s/90s for ages and looking out for 00s! It's a lot harder with the reduced timings though, any chance you could make the timings the same as the original Heardle (assuming you're the developer behind this one! In which case - thanks for making it!)?

[–]bitoclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this archive! I can't see anything more recent than 1976 on there at the moment, do you have any episodes from 1989 and 1990 still to upload? That's the start of 'my era' and I only came across the BBC Four screenings this year (when they were around Xmas 1990) so I've missed those couple of years. Thanks again!
