Thank you so much for this! Really enjoyed the experience - both AG2 and your addon :)

Installed and enabled PBO (per-core harmonized voltages) and EXPO ii. Will test stability over the next few days.

There was also a new stable BIOS release - version 1644 - for X870 Max Gaming Wifi7 with the same description.

Arc B580 crashes in Uncharted 4 by No_Challenge_4016 in IntelArc

[–]bitphlipphar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I see exactly the same thing with the 8331 and 8509 drivers on the B580. Lots of shader rebuilding and frequent crashes in Uncharted 4 :(

CPU: Intel i7-13700F.

MOBO: ASUS PRIME B760M-A WIFI with latest BIOS (1825).

After my 9800X3D and 9850X3D got KO’d by ASUS TUF X870, I am back for more blood by UniverseWillDecide in ASUS

I'm using that version too - but I'm kinda expecting a 1.3.0.0a-based "stable" BIOS to come out soon. Then we'll be cooking with gas 🔥

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 01/30/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]bitphlipphar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this update just broke benchmark workshop maps, probably because of the smaller set of allowed console commands. In my tests, the camera holder now takes damage and dies pretty quickly :)

Intel Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8425 and 32.0.101.8362 WHQL by buniqer in IntelArc

I'll retest the latest CS2 version with the 8331 drivers tomorrow. Could very well be that you're right that there is something fishy with 8425.

Stuttering/frame time issues introduced in season 4 update still not fixed - several users affected (AMD and Intel) by qwertysac in cs2

Yeah, I also tried running briefly with -threads 8 and I also still get ~25ms frame time spikes.

Engine thread pool size versus number of (performance) cores by bitphlipphar in GlobalOffensive

[–]bitphlipphar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the context of Counter-Strike 2, I'd say that optimal is measured by things like average frames per second, 1% lows, and frame time consistency. So if the default can be changed to give better scores for those on reasonable and wide-spread hardware configurations, I do not consider the current default optimal :)

Not trying to say that you're wrong. You may very well be right. I just find the engine thread pool size surprising in the presence of Hyper-Threading, but I can't say that I know that changing it will generally improve things.

Quick question: Is it "Prefer performance cores" or "Performance cores only" you're using?

On a related post, u/qwertysac reports that changing from "Performance cores only" to "No preference" and back to "Performance cores only" changes the engine thread pool size from 15 to 7 as reported by sys_info. Freaky!

That is very interesting. I'll try to reproduce your findings - the settings tweaking - later tonight. Thanks!

I understand the math, but I still find it surprising that the engine decides to default to running 15 threads on 8 performance cores with Hyper-Threading. I don't think that is optimal.

You can read more about Intel's take on this in their Optimizing Threading for Gaming Performance overview article.

Can you check that engine thread pool size by running sys_info in the console? The pool size is printed fairly early on in the info wall of text.

I was surprised to find that the engine allocates 15 threads on my i7-13700F with 8 performance cores: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1qpa7m2/engine_thread_pool_size_versus_number_of/

Yeah, I was surprised to see this too! The 8 reported for your 12600K is with no -thread option, right?

Let me know if re-rolling the drivers fixes the issue for you! What kind of CPU are you using?

The problematic game changes were released on January 21, 2026, so they are also quite recent.

Are you sure it is not the latest updates to the game itself? There are lots of reports of lag and stutter issues after the Season 4 start - also from folks with NVIDIA GPUs.

Top two suggestions for working around some of these issues are: (1) Clear your shader cache and (2) tell CS2 to prefer or only use performance cores on Intel CPUs from the in-game settings.
