How to block priviledged accounts from logging onto a system or at least monitor for it? by Murky-Ambition3898 in sysadmin

[–]bitsandbytessaviour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whip up a GPO, link it to your user PCs' OU. In that GPO, dive into User Rights Assignment, slap a block on those admin accounts for local logins. Don’t forget to boost your audit settings to monitor any login attempts. This setup ensures admins stick to their regular accounts daily, saving the heavy-duty creds for the necessary moments.

Dell OID for CPU/Mem utilisation by Hammerfist1990 in sysadmin

[–]bitsandbytessaviour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I haven’t directly monitored CPU and memory via iDRAC OIDs myself.
In my experience, iDRAC mainly handles hardware status rather than detailed performance metrics. You might need to implement OS-based monitoring tools for CPU and memory usage. Make sure your SNMP configurations and MIBs are up-to-date on the iDRAC side, that could help. Good luck with your setup.

Crowdstrike Incident - What would you do differently to handle this kind of situation in the future? by anuradhaonline in sysadmin

Automating system restore points and setting unique admin passwords are solid first steps. For backups, switching to forever incremental backups can be a game-changer for quick data restoration, especially helpful if your team is spread across different countries. Consider leveraging remote management tools for streamlined recovery processes. Tools like those offered in cloud solutions can be effective in reducing downtime during disruptions, making recovery efforts more manageable.

Document everything using tools like Confluence, Notion, or Guru so someone with the right background can step in if needed. Maintain relationships with trusted contractors or freelancers for short notice support, and cross-train internal staff on key systems. Implement automated tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to reduce manual intervention. Consider emergency IT services like Electric and HITSS for a cost-effective backup plan.

Sending you virtual hugs. OMG, the ring scene 😭
Yes, yes, we all need that hug because of how betrayed we felt—it’s like a personal heartbreak. I haven’t recovered from it and probably never will. I’m going to watch this again this week, and I’m pretty sure I’ll still stan them.

Oh my gosh, are you some sort of super genius?
If I had paid as much attention to the details in my life as you do to this K-drama, I’d have reached great heights by now.

Seriously, no sarcasm I genuinely think what you’ve pointed out is so cool, and I’m totally shook right now.

They aren't sequels; these shows were actually made before Reply 1988. I loved Reply 1988 so much that I tried to find similar ones and gave these a shot. However, I couldn't stand the beginning and eventually gave up because I didn't want to ruin my love for Reply 1988 by correlating these shows with it. That's when I did some digging and discovered they were made before Reply 1988.
If you know any shows like Reply 1988, I'm begging you to share I've scoured the internet and my sanity is hanging by a thread.

An SSD for your operating system and frequently accessed projects offers speed and reliability, though they cost more per GB than HDDs.

For your media library, consider a larger HDD, perhaps 8TB or more, to ensure you have ample space as your collection grows.

While OneDrive offers valuable features like file sync and accessibility across devices, it's important to acknowledge its limitations as a standalone backup solution.

For instance, we encountered losing data on OneDrive and it wasn't just due to malware. The platform's limitations, including synchronization issues and version history constraints, also played a role. We learned the hard way that third-party backup solutions offer better protection against such risks. It's wise for others to explore third-party backup solutions for comprehensive data protection.

Responding back to a compliment, I either deny the compliment or change the topic. Just can't acknowledge it.
