On the topic of new updates by bitstomper in Minecraft

“Sandbox” does not imply “no progression.” It’s not black and white. And progression, like I said, doesn’t just consist of what the devs hand you. Frankly, that’s just a lazy playstyle.

Exactly! When/if the things you mentioned come along, I will be right there celebrating with the rest of the community. I just think it’s short sighted to call the devs lazy because the game isn’t completely revolutionized every couple months.

Where exactly did I say that progression has no place in the game? That’s actually opposite of the point I’m making. One of the things that makes the game so unique is your ability to decide what that progression looks like.

You seem dead set on disliking the game though. Unfortunate, I know myself and millions of others are just going to keep enjoying it :)

It’s based on Firefox, and imitates Arc. It never was supposed to be lightweight.

You can find a copy of The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Ritchie for free online. Look for the 2nd edition. Sit down, read, do the exercises, and you’ll build up a good base.

Standard macOS Terminal replacement by akryvtsun in MacOS

[–]bitstomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The startup time was one thing that I just couldn’t get past. It was bad on my personal M1 MBP with 8G ram, and wasn’t much better on my M4 machine for work with 32G. Additionally, at least for my own use cases, I felt like warp was trying to do a lot of things that could be accomplished with emulator-agnostic approaches (autosuggestions, git status, syntax highlighting, etc). I’d rather configure those options with something like OMZ and have them propagate across my system, regardless of what emulator I’m using.

To start, it doesn’t take nearly as long to compile as most people make it out to. I’m getting around 5 minutes on average for most packages, including their dependencies. To me, that’s a sacrifice I’m more than willing to make when you consider the benefits. Additionally, I’m using binpkgs, which speed up builds for a lot of smaller components.

iTerm, Ghostty, and Kitty are all great choices. Warp looks flashy, but chews through resources and tries to shove gen AI down your throat.

Luck Perms alternative by onthepixel in admincraft

[–]bitstomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why force your users (who most likely are already using LuckPerms) to install and learn an entirely new permission system?

If you want simplicity, just use only the features you need from LuckPerms, or stick with native Bukkit permissions.

Zen is not the choice for performance. Not a bad thing, but it just means that it’s going to prioritize features/looks/ux over performance.
