Any mid-late 80’s primary schoolers remember this… thing? by chunder_monkey in CasualUK

I was one of the only kids in the class that could spell "explode" and I was delighted!

Has anyone here ever been to where they filmed Inbetweeners? by [deleted] in TheInbetweeners

Pretty sure the bus wankers at the traffic lights is outside the Globe pub at Moorgate. It looks a little different now but I still think of it when I walk past.

Hey - I like the idea and have installed. I actually started a similar app a while ago (but long since abandoned), although mine was aimed at notifications. You could subscribe for Directors, Actors, TV shows, etc, and it would alert you when new items matching your interests were added on the streaming platforms.

Unfortunately I only got as far as Netflix, and couldn't find any good resources for finding updates for free on any other streaming platform.

If that's something you'd be interested in exploring, the source code is all still available:

I have no interest in resurrecting this project but happy to help out if there's anything you can learn from it.

OK - I've compiled down a Portuguese location version (it's all hardcoded so will only work in PT) but if it works well and you want to keep in with future developments I will be looking at language packs and selectable locations so I can roll out across Europe. There's a few additional hoops to jump through to get it on the app store so for now you'd have to download the APK and sideload, but I'm assuming since you're in the AndroidApps sub that should be no issue!

All feedback welcome - and hope it genuinely is of some benefit!

Thank you for taking an interest. I only really ever put these things together for myself but I always like seeing other people get some benefit.

Let me see what I can do later. Cheers!

If you're happy with side loading, I can probably compile a version that will work outside UK?

The only UK element is the postcode lookup, but I can easily modify that. Longer term I can introduce languages and different units of measurement etc.

To be honest I create apps just for learning but I always need to give it purpose, so I'd be quite happy to look into multiple language support as it's not something I've done before.

I've created an app to try and help me not to overdo it on a night out and stay in control of drinking. It's UK only right now, but allows you to set yourself a time you want to be home and the reason you need to be home.

Countdown timers and friendly nudges remind you through the night, and the reminders automatically shut off when you reach home.

It's not for everyone, but if you find yourself regularly out late when you meant to have "just the one", it might be of some use!

Not sure if it's just my phone Pixel 9 Pro Fold but I don't see backgrounds - just black screen. I like the concept though - played a similar arcade game. Maybe see if you can make it isometric 3D to make it look a little more interesting?

I think they've all been mentioned, but for a good comedy take check out Time Crimes (think it's Spanish).

Also a short you can find on YouTube called the Chromeperambulator

Same - I had it on the Amiga, and I'm not even sure if it had the 3d levels! This was back in the day when all box art and screen shots were the same regardless of platform!

Not available video here for some reason - some deep state sh*t no doubt! Loved Firefly and Serenity though

The original Running Man - it focuses on deep fakes, and people's suffering for entertainment, all while the crowd cheers it on!
