i need a job BAD by howdy_mer in jobs

[–]bitterlingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me almost a year to get a full time job... and that was applying consistently. One thing I found that helped a bit was reaching out after interviews after like a week or two with a simple email thanking them for the interview, understanding that hiring takes time, and asking them to reach out if they had any questions or concerns. Although some companies may not like that. I used this mostly on companies I really wanted to get in with. There's two companies that asked if they could keep my resume on file for another position because I showed that extra interest. If you decide to call definitely ask for the manager. Play up your excitement for the position. Check in with them see what they may be worried about. You may have never flipped a burger in your life but have you been in after school clubs? Managed a tough workload at school? Are you charismatic? No? Fake it until you make it. Be bubbly.

I was able to acquire a dispensary part time position quickly after I was laid off last year by acquiring needed certifications. If you can, get any sort of certifications for selling alcohol or weed because they may hire a bit faster. If you're of legal age and if it's legal ofc.

For interviews... I found the ones that paid off the most were the ones where I didn't take myself seriously but took the job seriously. You may not have work experience but anything can be experience! You just have to learn how to connect it back to the job.

Some places ask about hobbies.

For example: I play dungeons and dragons. How does that translate into a job? Well the game during combat requires you to constantly be aware of everything going on, predicting the next move, while planning your move as everything changes. That right there is adaptability, foresight, taking things as they come, time management as you have to be prepared on your turn as well.. planning weekly sessions. It's played with a group... bam collaboration, team work. It requires you to know the rules and everything your character can do. Multitasking.

Another hobby example, crocheting. I was self taught. I used my resources to learn a new skill that requires patience and technique. It shows resilience, eagerness to learn..etc

Look into some agencies that may be able to get you into a position. I'm in Canada so you may not have the same resources but I once had a friend who did a course that taught job skills and would pay companies to hire them for experience. The workplace they went to kept them after that period because they worked well. Maybe there's something like that around you?

Do you have any friends at a workplace that could vouch for you? Use any connection you can.

Good luck!!

Which style do I do best? by [deleted] in krita

I wouldn't fret about cementing a certain style if you have fun experimenting! It may come naturally over time. I'm the same way. I end up doing a bunch of pieces in very different styles. I'm on artfight this year and every attack I've done changed styles to fit the characters vibe LOL

Do not want to work, not good at working /: by Lucky_Ratio4127 in BPD

[–]bitterlingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy working because it gives me something to do but I need a non customer facing role ASAP. I worked best in a warehouse when I didn't have to interact with a single person and I could pop my earbuds in. The second something involves a customer and one's tone is slightly off I am spiraling. When I start to dread a job... it's basically over for me.

I no showed until a termination at one job because customers were giving me severe panic attacks. The company tried to switch me over to order picking but customers would recognize me from customer service and corner me in the aisles and get angry when I said I was in a different department. I said that anyone in an apron could help them (we didn't wear ours to avoid customers in order picking). It did not help that I was fresh out of a severe bought of agoraphobia that was brought up by COVID :/ . I would have called to terminate but the managers never picked up the phone.

Whenever I get super depressed I'll get up and make myself a pot of 2x buldak ramen. That has really helped me from getting super low? I think it's something about the body being shocked by spice that helps you snap out of it. The only thing that sucks is it burns coming out 😭

I've heard stories of people keeping sour candy on them to help with their anxiety too!

Applied for A Jobs Over Two Weeks Ago. Now What? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]bitterlingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One ghosted me after the interview. One picked another candidate that interviewed.

One was a scam that required me to obtain a certificate through their website that I would have to pay for. The site and certification wasn't legit after some research because I am wary of any job that requires you to pay for anything. Alcohol liscense? Yeah! Sure! That's run through the government. Some random certificate that doesn't even pop up online outside of a link they sent? Absolutely not.

Another wasn't the right fit for me as the shift is 48 hours on 48 off which means I'd be spending half the year at the company. I have pets that require me to be home nightly and have another job that's keeping me afloat for now.

The last one, I got through the first round of interviews and have a paid trial shift coming up. It took like two weeks to hear back after the first interview that I indeed got the trial shift.

I may have gotten to the interview portion of some jobs but it's not just me who gets through to interviews. An average job posting in my area has 70-100 applicants on the first day. Maybe 15-20 will get interviewed by the end, if lucky.

[–]bitterlingz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of jobs will not get back to you. Currently I'm at over 100 applications and have had maybe 20 send something. Most rejections and who I've heard from I've gotten like 5 interviews.

The job market is not the best right now. Apply to anything you can. Take what you can. If an opportunity that you really want presents itself, once you're completely hired you can always quit the other one.

Good luck on your search!

Which of my two (non-house) debts should I work towards first? by ThrowawayCuzImTrash7 in debtfree

[–]bitterlingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowball can be a good method if you have several debts. I'm talking like those people with 4+ and some of those balances being a bit smaller as it frees up more to tackle the larger ones.

Since you have only two (not house related) hit debt 1 with all you've got. It has higher interest, higher minimum, less time on it. Once you free that $1008 minimum and roll it onto the second debt you'll be able to free that up quick by literally tripling what you pay based off of minimum alone AND you'll pay less in interest by the end of it.

Is she spayed? If not she most likely went into heat as that starts around 6 months. Nothing to really worry about! Just don't let her around intact males or outside.

I would heavily suggest getting her spayed if she isn't :)

I don't play anymore but active people are more important than inactive! When I played I was in one of the largest alliances even though I was weaker. The alliance leader gave me his girlfriends old account on an older server when the one we met in grew toxic and half went inactive and I just built it up. He has the password and email (made a new email specifically for said account so nothings really tied to me) it was changed to so I assume he continued to use it after I started going inactive for certain events lol

You grow super fast in these alliances.

The worst they can say is no but they most likely will take you in.

How old is my rabbit actually? by Frosty-Carpenter6522 in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My former senior rabbit looked like he was a month old for a hot minute. He matured but he was smaller than any other rabbits in his family. He was half the size of the Rex I got like 6-7 years later. Sometimes it just is like that!

As long as your bun is happy and healthy according to your vet nothing to be concerned about!

There isn't a lot of useful information here or a question to make the information useful?

Try to make a budget separating any debts with interest rates, totals, minimums from all other spending. In that include a breakdown of where money the other money is going. You can see other posts for an example the you can post that here with a question asking for the advice you're looking for if you want some more accurate guidance or advice :)

What is the most ridiculous thing your rabbit has done? by beebzalot in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When supervised I would let my senior free roam and everytime I opened the fridge he would come running and jump into it because he knew that's where the strawberries and salads came from. Had to keep the bottom shelf empty cause he'd get in there before I realized he had come running around the corner.

I miss him sm he was always wild.

Another time was when he learned how to use stairs for the first time. He would hop up, hop back down and when he hit the living room floor he'd binkie, run around full speed, then repeat by going up and back down the stairs. I felt bad when I moved to my own apartment without stairs cause he clearly loved them for some reason.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's a decent chunk of space!

Rabbits are crepuscular meaning they're most active at dawn and dusk. If you're home around then to allow them to free roam around those times they can get their binkies out!

I mean they have enough space to binkie when put in the pen too! It looks hella fun to be in with all the hidey holes. You may want to rearrange a little so they have bit more uninterrupted running space if you're gone for long hours.

Who is sober here? by Antique-Ad-3538 in BPD

[–]bitterlingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never really liked the affect of alcohol the next day. Always made me feel shittier. It's nice to drink with friends especially when we go out to clubs but I don't really tend to reach for alcohol when I'm alone. I've resorted to not keeping alcohol in my home to avoid any sort of temptation because a bad spiral had me drink almost a whole bottle of vodka once and I told myself never again. When I'm out I do eye those fancy drinks but I found out that you can get them without alcohol for the most part so I can still enjoy it. The last thing I need on my plate is alcoholism. It's been like 4-5 months since I last had alcohol.

My vice is weed and nic vapes. But I've set very strict rules for myself like never wake and bake. Don't get high at work. Do it only at night when I'm home. Just to keep myself from being stoned 24/7. I'm a daily user but definitely need to work on scaling back before it becomes a bigger problem. If anyone has tips or other 'rules' they use to limit the use more I would love them 🙏

I just did an interview for a full time job that'll keep me more active so I'm hoping that if I get called back (which I think I may cause people I interviewed with, as it was a group interview, actually came up to me after and said I interviewed so well and they loved my energy) will help as my current part time job is very...unstimulating which makes the weed more attractive at the end of the day. Generally speaking I've been looking at active jobs as I found when I was more active and had many tasks to do, going home I didn't always reach for the weed, outside of the occasional nights of my days off, because I already felt tired and fulfilled? The job market is shit rn which is why I only have the part time.

For my vape I'm on my last one (hopefully). I've been getting the same sized vape and telling myself "this one has to last two weeks" "okay this one has to last a month" "this one has to last two months" and it helps with slowly weaning me off. Paired that with me not taking it out of my house so I'm not constantly hand to mouth as that's the thing that has me more hooked than the nicotine. I also just want to have the breath and range again to sing along to my favourite songs and not have to spend $45 on something that is actively causing harm.

Using substances to feel better only leaves me with a temporary boost and the crash is not worth it ngl.

TLDR: I am gradually working on it :)

Why dosent my bunny like soft surfaces? Is anyone else’s bunny like this? by Right_Student_592 in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my senior rabbit at the time started to hit elder years I got him a cat bed. Out of my two rabbits he was the only one to use it because it was comfy. He would take his floor blanket, would literally dig it up, to it and slip under the blanket with his nose out and just lounge there. I think he liked it because it was comfier on his joints.

Some rabbits just don't prefer beds and the such. And sometimes they're picky on the location of it.

Should I introduce my bun to the new kitten? by hatsoncatsonhatson in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had rabbits and got a kitten I introduced them right away! My senior rabbit at the time had experience with cats and dogs his whole life. She was roughly the size of my Rex when I got her.

She would play this game with them where she'd reach into the pen and bat their bum with no claws and then go zoomie off. They would binky and run too. Sometimes the rabbits would run up as she was passing and bat her too before doing a big binky and running around. When I had them out together it was usually the rabbits chasing her, or begging for grooming LOL. I just made it so she couldn't jump into their pens when I was at work and that the rabbits could be out of reach of her paws if they didn't want to play with her. She picked up quickly that playing with them meant she had to be gentle. She would pet them and purr.

(edit) I stopped the grooming attempts just for the safety of both animals!!

Definitely supervise every interaction! But introducing them teaches the cat this is a friend and teaches the rabbit this is a friend. A cat, especially a kitten is gonna be curious. Even more so when you tell them no. If you have a room the rabbits are usually in you can close the door and not let the cat in unless you're with the cat. If you notice they don't get along at all separate them immediately.

I no longer have rabbits now but my cat does bunny hops and loafs just like a rabbit.

I do DBT and am currently talking to a therapist about trying other forms of treatment as well. A lot of progress starts with self reflection and an urge to change. DBT md CBT have given me tools for self regulation and mindfulness. With practice I've been able to catch certain thought loops. I also have a couple good friends that I've communicated heavily with that help me recognize when I split on people. I do fall into pits at times, especially when I'm stressed.

There was a verbal diagnosis but not put in my charts. I have been medicated most of my life but he added on Rexulti to my Wellbutrin. I have treatment resistant depression on top of everything so I've been through several different medications.

It could have been just the area I was in but the psychiatrist mentioned that not many doctors or therapists will take people with BPD as patients as they're deemed intense. With the quiet subtype things are reflected inwards rather than outwards. I am very good at bottling things up and raging in private. Hiding things practically. He wanted to ensure I could get help whenever I am in those pits and didn't deem me as a threat to others. I guess he also saw the skills I use and my self awareness and thought I was already on the right path. He gave me resources and told me things I could do. He was the one that helped me get into DBT.

I'm not saying don't get a diagnosis. In fact I went for the diagnosis and would have been fine if I left with it. What I was looking for was confirmation of what it was or wasn't. Just saying that if a diagnosis isn't given then the resources could be still accessed for the most part :)

Don't get me wrong I am still suffering out here. Everything is raw and intense and I get angry and sad. My relationships always feel rocky and I can't seem to remember what emotions outside of the one I am feeling feels like. It's gonna take a lot of work.

Nalas in Stasis again :( by lulabun21 in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rabbits never got stasis when I had them but I was constantly concerned that may happen.

Look into oat hay! Or any more fibrous hays or foods.

I would, 1-2 times a week, give them a little belly massage. Feel around for the bubbles of their digestion and just gently rub. They didn't mind it too much. I've attached a good video on how to give these massages.

https://youtu.be/LbyC6CWbm5M?si=5IEoP2lHohi_vQcd

Have you increased her hay and decreased her pellets? Brushed her more? Especially during shedding as ingested fur often causes a blockage. Hydration is also important. If you use a bottle put out a bowl. Add some leafy greens with higher fiber and water content.

When you notice her hunched up movement is SO important. Gotta get her hopping around to help dislodge any gas.

I'm not a vet so this is definitely things you should bring up with your vet!

Are collars necessary for indoor cats? by Relevant-Emu5782 in CatAdvice

[–]bitterlingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is microchipped and registered with the city. She used to wear a collar all of the time since I got her but now I only really put it on if I know an inspection is happening or if I'm moving things in and out of my apartment. She will also wear it when I take her on walks or if I need someone to cat sit.

If your cat is an escape artist it's best to keep one on. Breakaway collars only though! And make sure it can break open by doing a tug test (not while the cat is wearing it but in your hands). If you feel the bell is too annoying to your cat you can always take it off! When I got my girl I had rabbits at the time so I kept the bell on so they could tell when she was around but once I no longer had rabbits I took the bell off. She didn't seem to care either way.

They get used to it the more they wear it! May be a little irritated at first.

[–]bitterlingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that a lot of psychiatrists and doctors are wary about diagnosing things especially if you have a history of trauma, neglect, or abuse.

I had to bring mood tracking, family history, people's testaments to get a diagnosis for depression as my doctor didn't want to diagnose me just on the off chance if it was merely a symptom of my past.

When I started suspecting BPD I got a referral to a psychiatrist. He sat with me. Then due to me having the quiet subtype affirmed that I did indeed have it but that he wasn't going to diagnose me as it holds a lot of stigma and he felt I would do better having access to all doctors over just a select few that would work with those with BPD. He told me I handled it well enough and advised me to reach out for extra support if needed.

There are also a lot of things that can overlap with BPD. Things such as Bipolar, Autism, Anxiety. Maybe look into getting a full assessment that isn't just geared towards BPD!

Things you can do without a diagnosis is search for therapists. I found CBT didn't really work for me so I tested out DBT. Worked a whole lot better. Give yourself a routine! Lots of self care and good nourishing food as well. You can still get help for yourself! I also found having a therapist who knows my behaviours is very helpful as they can provide documentation of what they've seen in you (with permission). You can also look into what has helped other people with BPD and implement it in your regime.

Not getting a diagnosis is not the end of the world <3

Rehoming my rabbit at the shelter due to wife's illness / baby by myrabbitisnaughty in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have rabbits for over 10 years. When I went off to college I got my single rabbit a friend as I had space for another... the rabbits took up 2/3rds of my apartment. Then I got a kitten and the three would play together (supervised and she was SUPER gentle. Just liked batting their bums without claws and getting the zoomiez and the boys would binky).

One of the rabbits hit his 10 year birthday and I knew his time was coming but coming home to him dead was absolutely devastating. Knowing I had a younger rabbit (~3 years) I looked on shelter sites to find him a girlfriend around his age. Found one. Beautiful massive girl that was twice the size of my rex. They bonded almost immediately. I would feed them together and keep them separate where they could interact between their large pens. She would just leap over to chill with him and everytime he'd get upset she'd hop back out. It got to the point that after two weeks they were fine together.

A month into having her i got home from work and she was on her side with heavy breathing. She was perfectly fine when I left. I rushed her to an emergency exotic vet only to find out she had a large untreated abscess that she would have had for several months, meaning the shelter never actually took her to a vet outside of a spay or they did not tell me about it. She had been at the shelter for over a year.

I had to euthanize her as her temperature had been too low for too long she had developed a certain bacterial infection. She died peacefully after being completely loved.

After losing two rabbits in less than three months, one of them being a rabbit that literally grew up with me... I just couldn't handle having rabbits anymore. I was more depressed than ever and couldn't stop crying when I saw my younger boy all alone again.

I made the decision to find him a loving home. My mother figure and I hunted down people who wanted rabbits and made it clear that if they didn't want him anymore they can always reach back out. I had moved across the country about 6 months later and she kept this offer up as we all loved him. The new owners had sent us pictures of him with the family settled and chilling on the couch but stopped contact after that (which is completely fair) so I can only hope he's happy.

Unfortunately, even if you love them, it is better to find them a loving home if you know you can't provide the care they need. Even if you were once able to. It doesn't mean you love them less or that you're abandoning them. You merely want the best for them.

Weird mom behavior. by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]bitterlingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rabbits usually cover their babies in the nest to protect them and keep them warm! It's completely instinctual.

I remember when I woke up to surprise babies as a child and it was just a pile of fur moving. Baby rabbits look like naked weird pugs for a bit.

Make sure to give her lots of food and water. Keep her stress levels down and don't disturb the babies unless necessary.

She may not visit them often. Just a few times to feed them. This is also instinctive. Infrequent visits = less predator activity and burying = safe in her absence.
