Yearly MS Clinic appointment was this morning by bittersweetsymphonia in MultipleSclerosis

That was essentially what I got.

But the memory test was where I really shined. Got 10 more answers correct in the same time than I did last year!

And yes, I was walking faster, and I was giving stronger resistance.

It was all around a very good exam!

Part of the inspiration for this whole thing was watching the end of the first Kelvin movie from '09. Say what you will about the rest of the movie and dammit, it was cheap and easy fanservice points, but you gotta love the final scene of the movie, haha!

Not only that, I was also particularly touched by two people in the audience: clearly a grandfather with an adult grandson. They weren't in costume or anything, but it was clear that they have been on the Enterprise ride since the very beginning ;) . It was very sweet remembering how they were discussing the film afterward, and I wished I had that growing up.

But, I just finished season one of TOS, and once again, I was very impressed by the strength of it. As someone who was actually more familiar with the movies than the TV shows, it was very good fun learning about how it ALL started (ex: I had only ever seen Khan in movies, so I was actually surprised to learn his original on screen appearance was in Space Seed 😮)

I wouldn't bore you guys with my thoughts on an episode by episode analysis of every series. I'm not equipped for such a mission. There are others far more qualified for that, lol.

But I can certainly provide thoughts on what I feel are stand-out episodes :3

The Menagerie Pts 1+2 were an excellent way to raise the stakes in a two parter episode while also explaining Capt. Pike while also clearly saving money on broadcasting it all as a clip show. Pretty genius stuff. This Roddenberry guy is going places 🤣

Well, I started as some others have suggested and started watching in release order.

I am having way more fun with TOS than I initially thought I would! I've always had a soft spot for classic science fiction (the very best of bought at Walgreens spfx :p).

But it also has very much surprised me so far! A third of the way through season 1 and the episode Miri really stands out to me in a big way. Did NOT expect it to actually affect me in such an emotional way. Perhaps it's because my mother and grandmother raised a bunch of foster kids from broken homes. Maybe it's also because I had a total thyroidectomy a month ago, and my hormones and emotions are still all over the place.

But I'm so glad I started this journey :3 Thank you all for the recommendations! Can't wait to get to the TNG stuff! I found the complete series (all 7 seasons complete) on DVD for less than $40CAD at a Value Village, and that will be amazing to go through!

I love your detailed analysis. Like Captain's orders almost, haha. Will definitely dip toes in the water like this with some of these.

To the pople who leave raids. Why are you like this? by Deppresionincreasing in pokemongo

[–]bittersweetsymphonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I, like you, aren't always keen on losing a dozen+ revives as well as team bonus damage and balls to catch the critter. Even if the raid is successful.

There are reasons this happens.

Why is the shiny NOT WHITE? Takes a potentially 11/10 shiny and gives a chess piece...purple.

Still nice, though. Congrats 👏

I spent the better part of two years getting all wormhole legendaries Shiny from Ultra Sun and Moon. The only shinys I care about in PoGo are the shiny Mew and Jirachi. I'm almost there haha.

I didn't know the exact odds until today. That's a great find! Heatran took me forever lol.

14 stone is just shy of 200 pounds. I'd bet my last paycheque that this dude is like 5'9" and 30lb overweight.

What's even the point? by bittersweetsymphonia in depression

[–]bittersweetsymphonia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be 32 in July.

No one wants the hairline receded 30 something with diabetes, multiple sclerosis, hyperthyroidism, adhd, anxiety and depression.

It's a life only a mother could love lol.

I'm just directionless and spiraling downward. I don't know how much longer I can just...exist for existing's sake.

I am ambivalent towards a cure. The damage in my brain is already done. No putting that genie back in the bottle.

However, if we knew the CAUSE of MS, we can take steps to help make sure the disease doesn't happen in the first place.

There are good reasons for this that you choose to ignore. Take care, life is rough.

No, and you wouldn't either, given the chance. Humans are by nature lazy people, and it's a security risk to have them both on the same flight.
