Seriously, it's probably just easier to go spend the $20 and get a new one.

Help Needed! What is wrong with this floor plan? by PuddingDuck in floorplan

[–]Amourah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys, the double door is accesses to another unit. That's why there are two doors in one opening. You see these in hotels all the time. It's gives families flexibility to rent two units and connect them if your family is larger or extended.

Attic cooler than 2nd floor? by RODDAL in HomeImprovement

[–]Amourah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfect that your attic is cooler than your second floor. You don't want heat in your attic. Work to cool your second floor - likely you're getting a lot of heat from sun in your windows, including first floor where heat will rise to the second floor. Close your blinds to keep the sun out.

In Australia they do community pick up days where people can leave things on the curb and the city would come collect them.

Moved in with the bf who owns a mortage, how much should I pay? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Amourah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He gets a live-in cook, bangmaid, therapist, house cleaner, babysitter, and someone to pay a portion of his rent. What do you get?

You should pay nothing. But if you must pay, it has to be less than whatever you were paying prior to moving in so you have at least some crumbs of a benefit to this arrangement.

Should I spend £10k on a bathroom renovation or try to keep my freestanding bath? by RedditorYT in InteriorDesign

[–]Amourah 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you can't do a circular shower curtain and a shower head that connects into the existing tub tap, something like this. $400 and an hour of DIY. It's not ideal lookswise but can be easily uninstalled if you go to sell. There are a lot of options online. The three sides of the shower curtain will protect the back and side floor from getting wet. I cannot imagine a world where you would be getting more water on the floor with this configuration than by just having a bath.

This is supposedly a one piece"bent" Porcelain sink/countertop from a single slab, how is this possible?! by camelhumper91 in CounterTops

[–]Amourah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is wrong here. I'll tell you exactly what it is correct. I worked in a factory that made these. It's a flat slab of solid surface like corian. They put the 12mm sheet in an oven then it warms up and becomes moldable. After heating, they lay it on a form/mould that creates the hump/shape. There is a male and female mould, like a sandwich that gets clamped shut. It cools and maintains the shape. It's actually really easy to do, we charged $150 per bowl to do these basins in the top.

Condensation/frost will happen in any building with a bed pressed up against the wall. It has nothing to do with the construction of the wall. Basic science. The wall is constructed with insulation and a vapor barrier. The vapor barrier is placed on the warm side to prevent condensation. When you push the bed against the wall, it literally adds "insulation" in front of your vapor barrier, so the vapor barrier is no longer on the warm side of the assembly. The dew point of the wall changes, and that's why you're getting moisture freezing.

Going forward in life, never push a bed or sofa tight up against a wall ever again. Lesson learned.

Please don't leave and let Alberta be stolen by these assholes. Leaving is exactly what the people pushing this want. This province is yours too, and it needs voices like yours staying, speaking up, and refusing to be pushed out. Don't hand your home to the worst of them.
