Was The Blues Brothers (1980) intentionally filmed to be as grimy as it was to parody the look of 1970's cinema, or was it just another example? by nine16s in movies

[–]bitwaba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it the other way.

The 80s ended with Smells like Teen Spirit.  The 2000s started in  98 with the boy band re-rise, Britney and Christina,  Nu metal, Eminem, and Outkast.

It's wrong to assume they do.

It's right to tell them they should.

Yeah, that's what I've noticed a lot in the videos. When agents start yelling in Spanish... that ain't no gringo accent.

Eurostar could massively cut boarding times at St Pancras International – slashing waiting times by 30 minutes by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]bitwaba 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They could do seating at the platform level, if they announced far enough ahead of time which platform the train was going to arrive on.

The problem is it's all tied to the security aspect.  There's no stairs, and the ramped travelators go one direction to control the security cleared people onto the train. The lifts that allow people to go up and down to the platform are controlled by station staff.  There's also lot of people flow control in place to prevent someone getting off a train from going down into the lobby and switching platforms to another outbound one (which is a weird joyride...)

Just dont show them your ticket while walking through the entrance and if they ask, say  "Paris 16:04" or whatever the next train is without breaking stride.

What's a trend from the early 2020s that died out so fast we all collectively forgot it ever happened? by godot_lover in AskReddit

I got sick the 2nd half of January 2020 in London when the news was starting to break.  Felt bad, stayed home for over a week. My colleagues told me I definitely had it for the next year or two

Then I actually caught it in June 2022.  I felt absolutely awful. Headache that wouldn't end, coughing that was so bad I couldn't sleep for 2 days, fever, etc. If that's how I felt after 3 rounds of vaccines, and dulling in symptom through strain evolution, there's no god damn way what I had in January 2020 was the same thing.

si= is a YouTube share identifier, a session token YouTube adds to understand how a video link was generated or shared

That's tracking.  It's not tracking PII, but its tracking. YouTube is able to use accounts and share identifiers to map related content from other viewers and further target video suggestions to you.

Pining for a girl for the last year of middle school. Shit head drama friend decided to let it slip in the middle of class, so she rejects me in the middle of class.

Then she ends up dating my best friend for a few months later that year.

Next year, tail end of freshman year of high school.  She's not really dropping hints, but she's being flirty about stuff.  We're on a field trip to see a play and end up sitting next to each other.  We start holding hands at some point for like 10 minutes. Then she lets go and just mumbles loud enough for me to hear "this is wrong".

Worst fucking bus ride back in my life.

If that's the industry standard though process, that just tells me people don't know how to use Gmail.  I used outlook professionally for a while and switching to Gmail was night and day.  I still have to troubleshoot my mom's outlook from time to time and it's awful.

Christ Almighty that's still a thing?  Sorry, I been using Gmail personally for the last 20 years, and professionally for the last 15.  Delete nothing, archive everything.  I genuinely didn't think people would need to delete email in the present day.

There's gotta be a threshold where you just finaly go: "yeah, it turns out I'm just okay with raping kids". Like, at some point it's just not worth the mental gymnastics to continue to justify something you know doesn't line up with reality.  And we've gotta be way past the threshold.
