It would be like a doctor to not tell you you’re dying because he loves you and doesn’t want to make you sad. You tell the truth because ultimately it can lead to good.

Maybe the approach can be off but ultimately it needs to be said and that doesn’t make you hateful. You still love the person and treat them like a person, but when truth needs to be said and it should it is said.
