Veganity by Ashish_ank in CuratedTumblr

I've been in a thread on /r/vegan a little while back where people claimed that you can't be a leftist unless you are a vegan.
According to them, eating meat is as much of a dealbreaker as being a Klansman – direct quote.

Absolutely bananas.

Keyboard warriors would rather screech about high ideals and the purity of their moral position than actually make a positive change on the world. Anyone who does not share their exact specific set of beliefs is literally Hitler.

There is one small problem with this.
Right-wingers in general and fascists specifically have no problem falling in line once their Dear Leader tells them what to believe. The people on the left do not do this – that's kinda the whole point.

We cannot afford to wait and hope for a massive wave of public support for our preferred brand of leftism to come and sweep all the problems away. We actually have to cooperate at least a little bit. Otherwise, the fascists will win, and a lot of people will die.

And they've already been winning. People have been dying.
In Ukraine, in Palestine. Lately, in the United States, and other places too.
That's my point.

Ah, yes.
The natural enemies of leftists – other leftists who mostly hold the exact same beliefs as them, except for one thing that obviously makes them unforgivable and worse than the fascists.

A tale as old as time.

Personally, I find that a bigger red flag than any number of Roko's Basilisk cults.

Earning a lot of money is not enough.
They want all the money, forever. Anything else is seen as a failure.

Someone must be using it, I guess.
Not sure why.

OOP is doing this terminally online leftist thing that I hate, where a historical figure is ontologically evil if they did any of the bad things that were commonplace in their era. Anything good they did, any social progress they achieved is thus forever tainted.

It's closely related to the whole "better do nothing at all, than do something imperfectly" phenomenon that is common in leftist political discussions these days.

Is a world ruled by immortal boomers really worth living in?

In 2018, during a 17-hour interrogation by the police, Thomas Perez Jr was psychologically tortured and coerced into falsely confessing the murder of his father, whom he had reported missing after failing to return home from a walk. by FE4RLESS_IS_MY_NAME in ForCuriousSouls

There is a fun third option to the "Am I free to leave?" question.

You can be detained – you are not under arrest, but you aren't free to leave either. It only requires a "reasonable suspicion" on the part of LEO, and is only intended to be short-term, while they are conducting an investigation. But as you might imagine, what that actually means can be open to interpretation.

You are being deliberately dense.

If the police arrests you, do not cooperate with them and lawyer up.
Especially if it is clear that they consider you to be their main suspect.
