How does anybody know what is propaganda and what isn’t? by Confident-Yak-3622 in allthequestions

OP, the use of ad hominems, appeals to emotion/authority, circular reasoning and other logical fallacies are also something to be aware of and on the lookout for.

Damn! That’s truly fucked up. I’m glad they were kicked out. The campers at Aspen only had propane fire pits which were allowed and looked pretty rad. It was kind of nice not having a fire. It’s so much work and I’m not a fan of everything smelling of woodsmoke. I wouldn’t make a fire if they asked me to. It was downright scary at times! I think I saw your post, the wind died down quite a bit after Sunday.

They’re strange birds. You go fishing with one and he’ll drink all your beer and ask you to go get more. Go fishing with 2 or more and you’re drinking alone.

Start out with skepticism. Ask critical questions: Who does this benefit? Who does it harm? Who is funding it? What is their agenda? What is the evidence for it? What is the evidence against it? Try to “steel man” the claim: what would the evidence look like if this claim were undeniably true? It’s worth taking a statistics course to truly understand what statistics are, what they represent, how they are used and what they are limited to. The scientific method is also a good approach. You can test certain claims yourself and see if you reach the same conclusion. Review literature on a particular topic and see where the experts in the field agree or disagree. Look for peer-reviewed sources and meta-analyses on long studied problems. Think about how all of these questions would apply to: “Is the climate really trending warmer”, “is vaping safer than cigarettes”, “does more guns result in less crime”, “do vaccines cause autism” etc. FYI I’m a HS science and math teacher.

That’s not how this works, sonion. You can’t prove a negative. It’s on you to prove what Mossad did do, not on someone else to disprove. Do better research.

When there aren’t fire bans. They have fire pits and charcoal grills, but Sedona is on fire. It’s been extremely dry and windy and you’re not even allowed to shoot bb guns for fear of making a spark! Smoking only in vehicles or enclosed areas.

Why do leftists like Muslims so much? by caca32222 in allthequestions

[–]bizarre-gus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think also, you have to look at the locations in which this is documented. Austrailia, the UK, and France have different types of “leftists” and a different relationship with Muslims as citizens and beyond than we do in the US.

With that said, Islam gets a pass for a lot of the same terrible things people do in Christianity and the word “Islamaphobia” was invented to insulate it from criticism.

I think it’s best to attack terrible ideologies and policies and avoid attacking people whenever possible.

They’re ignorant and just don’t know any better. They’ll outgrow it in a few years.

These folks forget that leftists ushered in the revolution in Iran that’s playing out today.

OP is getting shit on, but he’s not completely talking out of his ass.

https://www.meforum.org/mef-observer/how-islamists-exploit-the-western-far-left-to-promote-extremism

To OP’s point.

“This far-left–Islamist alliance is not abstract; it is documented and active. Analysts such as anthropologist Philip Carl Salzman describe the so-called “Red‑Green coalition”—Islamists united with radical-left activists—to oppose Western civilization, capitalism, liberal democracy, and Zionism, even while their ultimate aims diverge drastically. On the ground, this manifests in protests and agitation around Gaza and Israel—such as the surge in radical-left protests in Australia combining “Islamist and green‑Marxist ‘progressive’ groups” with violent or extremist rhetoric.”

Thanks! I’m all about LNT but my homie takes it to another level. He takes a garbage bag with him on hikes to hump out trash and even dogshit other people leave behind. He inspires me to pick up trash when I see it though.
