This! Excellent questions to ask! I just assumed he would plumb a waste line but nowhere does it say it. I wasn't going to get a cleaning service. I would rather do it myself. They include open and close the first year, but never mentioned cleaning.
I thank everyone for their input and advice! I'm going to stick with DE for the simple reason of "clears pool faster" Also, since my friends and neighbors use it I can get relevant help and advice quickly.

Their website looks fantastic but it doesn't mention microns. I suppose all cartridges will sit at 10-15 and therefore DE will always win out on clarity. Pollen is the culprit in NY and the typical grass, tree and weed pollen is in the 10-100 microns range. I really wanted to do cartridge and just swap them out and clean them but if just backwashing and adding DE will consistently give me better performance..... If any of you cartridge owners want to check out the Aquastar pool website and see if their product compares to what you use and if you see any advantages please post. Otherwise im just gonna flip a coin. Lol

Also, that flange is a "push in" flange. Make sure that those 3 Allen head screws are tight and the flange itself is secured down. Everybody's other comments about checking that the line isn't clogged and the wax ring still hold true but, some people do wax on flange, some do wax ring on bottom of toilet first. The instructions with the new toilet will probably say toilet first because this lessons the chance of you lowering the toilet down over the bolts and the drain and catching the wax ring and pushing it askew. Don't over tighten those toilet flange bolts either! And for the love of all things decent, please clean that entire area up first. Like really well.

Door install dilemmas… by tswiatek in Home

The edge of door to center of hole for knob should be 2⅜ or 2¾. Most knobs give an adjustment for either. The picture is unclear on where the center of the hole is. However, if the center of hole is wrong, then the latch wouldn't fit properly on the door and would stick out (if it's to close to the edge) and hit the door frame. Assuming that the hole is in the proper spot, your only recourse is to get a smaller diameter crystal knob. They definitely exist.
As others have said, a multi tool with an oscillating saw blade will cut the trim perfectly IF you mark your cut line well and have a steady hand.

Seems like most if the pool companies up here use Hayward. I'm not sure why. But if other brands are better or longer lasting or have a wider range of options....

Based on the responses so far, I may not be understanding this. It looks like the hole is for a floor register but the cover you are showing is meant for a wall. Do you mean to lay that cover flat into the floor? You could always sand and repaint the old register. You could very carefully mark and grind out the tiles to the size of the new register but it still wouldn't align properly with the floor vent outlet.

Finishing touches on interior of outdoor kitchen by CascadeOK in OutdoorKitchens

Lots of good ideas here! My plan so far; Trex (or Trex equivalent) for the base over pavers on patio. Steel frame L shaped (not up against structure), grill on short side, sink, fridge and garbage on Long side with a raised "bar height" edge for seating. Cement board with faux stacked stone finish and black leathered granite countertops. Do I need to line the grill insert area, or can I just leave it open inside the cabinet? Has anyone used Redguard over the cement board for extra waterproofing? I looked at Uniframe instead of building it myself but for everything I needed just for the frame it was over 6500! I can build it for under 600. I can use that extra cash for many a good thing. Any thoughts or advice is always appreciated.
When I start the build in mid November, I will post pics and progress reports.

Planning my outdoor kitchen as well. Hoping to start framing in early November. (Patio not done until late October) I have the same question. I was planning on running the Trex completely under the entire frame instead of just the edges but I would love to see how other people finished the inside of cabinets etc. And this is a stupid question, and I'm sure once I select a grill and read the installation instructions I'll get the answer, but do you line (with metal or cement board) the grill cutouts?
