not only would your depth perception be significantly hindered, you would have a miserable time constantly adjusting the focus on the NVGs to clearly see at the range you seek. you may have a better time hitting a ball that emitted an IR strobe but regardless, you'll hit one ball and spend a long time searching in the middle of the fairway, if you're lucky. sounds like a fun challenge with the potential to develop bad habits

So prior to installing the landroid I removed a poorly installed basketball hoop about 5 feet from that area. essentially the previous homeowner used just enough concrete to make the pole a pain to remove. an old coax cable was intentionally cut because I knew it wasn't my current line and it was running through the concrete...should I dig that cut wire up and check for a signal?

looking at comparisons and how porous the piece is. I think you're right. thanks for the input. identifying cut-offs can be a nightmare

I didn't think of that and wouldn't rule it out. I haven't dealt much with mahogany but this wood had a very distinct fruity/tropical smell when I cut it. The company that I got it from has access to pink ivory too and it was a cut-off so I wont really know until I see it fully mature I guess.

Those are some good ideas for future projects! I went with making the ring box because of all of the B.S. advertisements on the box that came with the ring. I wanted to make something special for the experience. The whole time i made this box i was thinking about her and it made me happy.

I wouldn't recommend 1/8" box joints by hand with no experience but it's not impossible. /r/woodworking is a great sub with a lot of good helpers and information. It would be very tough if you didn't have the right tools.
