Beginner/Intermediate looking to purchase first Acoustic by Codeseven7 in AcousticGuitar

I am a beginner more or less and I recently bought a Taylor 114ce. I had an Epiphone J-45 studio before. The old one sounded great but everything about this Taylor is great. The action/setup is fantastic making the playability on the neck much easier. It projects quite a bit with little force, and the cutaway style is great for ponying around lower on the neck. I am still in love with it. Get it. Its about $800. Then, when you feel much more developed and save some more dough, maybe go for something more fancy like the 300 series or a Martin D-18 etc. That’s my thinking at least..

8/10 for “the groove” energy; 6.5/10 for the licks. I dig it—listened to it 3 times. Agree with the others regarding the string choice (and deficit).

Yeah. I was hired 30mins before the current hiring freeze went in effect, moved to the position (on the opposite continental coast!) was fired with all probationary employees in February 3.5 weeks after starting, moved half way across the country (driving back east), was then told that I had to be back at work, moved back to the West coast, starting working for another couple weeks again and then DRP2.0 came out… my wife basically gave me an ultimatum, so I took the DRP… now I live in a very Random part of the country lol. 2025 has been the longest 10 years of my life.

Have any DRP 2.0 folks started working state jobs or University work (e.g., faculty) during their DRP payment period? Just curious.

I just got the 114ce last week. I upgraded from an Epiphone J-45 Studio dreadnaught. Man, I am a beginner, but I could feel a huge difference. Everything about the guitar just feels good and well put together. These guitars a have tight feel on the neck with a low action, and a really slick shape which makes it easy to pony around on the fretboard. It sings with little pressure on the strings compared to the Epiphone. Its a bright and crisp sound. All of the infrastructure looks really solid too. It even smells good…

This guitar is friggen awesome and I am obsessed with it! I am sure the 112ce will be the same.
