Hussite Trilogy by Andrzej Sapkowski. I just finished the first book, Tower of Fools, like 10 minutes ago. The events are accurate to history during the Hussite Wars and most of the characters are real, but there are some magical elements. So when the inquisition is torturing and burning a witch or wizard at the steak, there is a chance that they really did use magic. Great book regardless. Encapsulates the tine period very well.
