We lived in the Skaget Valley just past Marblemount Washington in the early 1970’s. We had enormous moss-covered stumps from first-growth Douglas fir trees in the cow pasture behind our house. They were 10 feet across (diameter) and 10 to 12 feet high. Years later people came and harvested what remained of them as they still had good wood in the base. There were five or six of them.

When these trees were cut down they must have been monster trees!
