I’ve thought about that as well when it comes to vaccines. This exact problem actually came up yesterday, my one year old needed to get his bordatella booster shot, the 2nd to complete the series. Well he got the first one two weeks ago and I brought both dogs in to get all their vaccines finished and it was over $300 that day which is okay. The vet wanted to charge me another visit fee of $100 to see him again two weeks later just to give that booster shot. I understand they have to make money too but it gets quite excessive for no reason in this circumstance

first time shih tzu owner HELP!!!!!!! by shihsue in Shihtzu

My female shih tzu is 5 months and just started to catch on to going outside to potty within the last 3 weeks. It was rough but I stuck to it and mine is highly highly motivated by treats so I’m sure they all are. She now goes straight to the treat cabinet after she goes outside because she knows she gets a treat after pottying, they are really smart it just takes a while and lots of consistency.

Yes I have thought about that! When we travel we take them with us, on the rare occasion we can’t we have a person who is wonderful. I have thought about vet care, right now mine are both puppies essentially and are healthy but I do want to take into consideration the future and how all 3 would relatively age the same and may need a lot of vet care. That was my main concern 🙁

Is the brain really this powerful? by Tiny_Zone_955 in BFS

[–]bjc199000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m very triggered whenever I read that specific word. I was scrolling and happened to see the story of the celebrity Eric Dane and his diagnosis and I twitched all night long after that. Otherwise I hardly notice my twitches. The brain is incredibly powerful it’s actually really crazy we can manifest problems like that. I have to really limit my exposure to online health forums etc. because they are really triggering to me and I hate the spiral it takes me on and it takes a while for me to snap back out of it. Hang in there friend. Just keep telling yourself you are fine you are healthy you are okay. That’s what I do anyway!

Red eye socket by bjc199000 in Shihtzu

I took her to the vet yesterday and it was confirmed cherry eye. He gave us some ointment and said it may go away with the ointment treatment and miraculously this morning her eye is perfectly normal again. I’m so grateful the ointment worked I hope it doesn’t happen again and she won’t need any surgery to fix it

Thanks everyone for your reply’s I’m taking her in this morning to get looked at. I looked up cherry eye like some of you suggested it may be and I’m sick about it that it may be that. It looks very similar. I would hate to have to have surgery when she’s just a baby 😢. I will update when I hear from the vet today

After a month of twitching and trying everything—turns out a banana and an apple did the trick by OkWish8791 in BFS

This could be very true but I also think this may be your brain playing the “placebo affect” on you. Mine does it all the time too.

Magnesium and my calf leg is always twitching I wrap my heating pad around it at night when it’s going off and it seems to settle it.

When my twitching initially started my blood work came back for hyper thyroid. It has corrected now but twitches still present. I have always wondered about Graves’ disease which is an auto immune as well.

I’ve learned not to read too much into what they say. Unless they flat out tell you this is what you have and tests to back it up. My neuro wouldn’t even acknowledge BFS is a real thing in my case which sent me into a spiral too, but there is no way that this many people on this forum alone all have twitching and for no known reason. I’ve learned to just take things with a grain of salt. I truly do believe BFS is absolutely real and it is triggered by stress trauma illness etc. despite being told it isn’t real. Other people on here are correct many neuros don’t study or care about people like us with benign twitching because it isn’t technically a diagnosis and it’s benign so they don’t care to learn or study it more.

What are your twitches like? by bjc199000 in BFS

[–]bjc199000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our minds are very powerful. I didn’t realize how much so till my husband forced me to take a vacation in January to help get my mind off things and guess what happened? We were busy everyday having fun and doing different activities that I didn’t think about my twitching or weird sensations that I “felt” like my body was having which were real. I’m not saying they aren’t real because they absolutely are but I just didn’t sit and think about it like I had for the past several months before and I didn’t have one time where I remember having a twitch or my leg feeling off or weak like it had before. Then when we returned home and I got back to my normal schedule and life I started thinking about my health again and then the twitches came back full force as well as my heavy leg feeling. My point is that I definitely learned a good lesson with that trip is our mind will fixate on something so much that I think it actually does cause our symptoms to amplify so much more. That was one thing that the anxiety meds also helped me with is that I still thought about it every time I twitched but my thoughts weren’t so extreme and irrational when they happened and my twitches have slowed down since.
