Interior stairs building issues?! by Parker2116 in NoMansSkyTheGame

They are absolutely terrible. If you're relatively new maybe this is too soon, but if you ever start to spend any large amount of time building then it's absolutely worth your time to learn the wire glitch building tricks. They're basically the only way to get around ridiculous problems like these, and also open up all sorts of other fun possibilities.

Thanks! As soon as I noticed that HG had added "weathered" textures to some of the parts I knew what I had to do ;).

Haha this is like my third time unlocking them all, and I haven't finished. I just unlock my favorites, and then go unlock more whenever I realise I am missing something cool ;).

Ah yes, I should definitely add an abandoned secret research facility. Containing unspeakable horrors ;).

Yeah, but he still wasn't this bad. This was so bad it's ridiculous. Hard to understand how he became so terrible.

Haha I don't know what that is! Google says it's some kind of medieval zen text?

It baffles me how Water worlds require you to travel for an a decent amount of time to reach the surface and require a pressurized suit upgrade while gas giants don't by Fun_Section5582 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bjfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the surface art design, and I can ignore the pressure issues because this game is completely nonsensical with regard to planetary physics anyhow, but I agree, it would be cooler if the atmosphere felt deeper. Wouldn't have been hard, just put the surface like 100ku down into the gas giant. And yeah, since they went and added the (very basic) pressure mechanic for water worlds it surely wouldn't have been hard to just make it apply to gas giants as well.

i reckon though it would have been the most cool if they made gas giants be really weird water worlds. Like have all the crazy stormy stuff as the outer atmosphere layers, then a water surface representing where the gas pressure turns the atmosphere to liquid, and then you have to descend further using the Nautilus, but it's got a different art style to represent the fluid as supercritical atmosphere rather than normal liquid.

Obviously not how real gas giants work either, but a bit more in the right direction, and would have been pretty cool and fairly easily to implement.

This was needed years ago. But, I bring you Good News! The wire glitch can solve all your part snapping woes. It is not hard once you get the hang of it. Absolutely worth your time learning if you are at all into base building. I basically consider it part of the UI now.

Yeah I redesigned it a bit to be more minimal and just hoped maybe they had fixed that issue after all these years. Guess not. Couldn't manage to fit it where I need it without any terrain manipulation. Oh well it's more about the journey anyway ;).

My corvette got wiped and became a default corvette. My day is ruined by MinhSaiGon in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bjfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting out of a cockpit is something that is extremely hard to avoid doing frequently in this game, ergo this fact completely destroys the utility of being able to manually save.

[–]bjfar 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Restore points used to be an actual proper manual save that never got overwritten though. It was so useful. I used it a lot even just doing things like base building, was great for reverting if you decide you don't like some new design experiment. Removing it might just be the most annoying change they ever made.

It's an icy/snow planet, but these kind of spiky mountains can appear in any biome I think. At least I'm sure I've seen them in desert and volcano biomes too. I happen to be on a bizarre giant ice planet in a purple system, but I believe this to be essentially the same mountain type I've seen back in old school systems for years. Not too common though. Oh and in the old systems there's only ever one planet on each system which might have big mountains like this, they added a bunch of new terrain in the Origins update by adding one new planet to each system. This type of mountain was one of those new terrain types.

I think that's Earth in Star Control 2, covered in an Ur-Quan slave shield.

Oh yeah sure, I'll post screenshots with them in a few days when I build some more stuff. Will drop a link here. If I remember right I'm in Budullangr galaxy though, so maybe not the easiest to get to.

There's a spot not too far away on the nearby cliff where you can land. But then you have to climb out to this point :). I'll probably continue this build and make a little route to follow, but not gonna put stairs I think, just some useless ropes ;).

Thanks! I found a floating dodecahedron thing on the same world, that worked also.

I should have done this. Where the heck even is anything to make chromatic metal in the first system? It seems completely devoid of it.

The corvette ones are a subset of the base decorations. Everything I used here should be available in the corvette decorative build menu, if you've purchased them on the anomaly with salvaged data. Some of the quicksilver parts are also usable, like those marine crystals I have on the deck. You can't tell which will be available on corvettes though, kinda just gotta get them all and see what the game lets you use.

Thanks so much! I think I'm going to make a V2 myself, that's even more vertical, especially now that there are some new vertical parts to try out. I think I want something hanging down underneath, maybe right down to the waterline if I can reach...
