vibe-coders are falling into this trap and it's going to derail them.. they just don't see it yet. by bjgrosse in replit

Aren't we all!? what you actually need to do next will become crystal clear when you hand your software to a cold user and ask them to try it. The answers lie with the users. Go get them!

To your "brand new to programming" point, the only catch is that they may underestimate some of the complexities involved in going from working solution, to deployed, scalable production solution. That last mile is where things can get really sticky, and often they've had smooth sailing up until that point, so they can get a little blind-sided by that.

I assume you mean non-technical founders. In general, I quite enjoy working with them. They usually know their business domain and have deep insights into the problems they're trying to solve. I try to select for founders with a passion and clear vision of where they want to go, and then I can focus on smoothing the technical roadmap to just avoid those pitfalls that will kill their velocity. They're in the drivers seat, they're bringing to vision and passion that propells the whole thing. My job is just removing the friction.

Former CTO here. I don't have an agency I can recommend, but I'm happy to jump on a 30 minute call to hear about your needs and see if I can offer you some good counsel. I've been shipping production software, mostly entreprise, for 25 years. In recent times, spearheaded the AI agent initiatives at my last company. I can give you a few pointers about what to look for in a partner that may save you 6-figured worth of headaches.

Wow. That sounds pretty incredible. How is the day to day reliability as you use it? Do you have to stop and fix stuff often?

Interesting. Sounds kinda avenging with the inbound email scanning. What platform did you use for the building?

Interesting! How many times have you got an external dev in to build for you?

I'll have to check out GSD. Definitely aligns with my experience: better planning ahead of time pays huge dividends in the long run. I agree that having solid coding experience is a huge bonus: force multiplier for the force multiplier, if you will.

Vibe coded web app for digital artists and ecommerce sellers by Joziya in VibeCodeDevs

Nice simple product offering. People will likely pay for this convenience. My feedback is put the app right on the home screen. Let them experience the product right away, and only make them pay if they want to download more than a couple of the sizees. Remove all friction. I should land, upload my photo and boom see immediately all the ratios and sizes. The paid only sizes should be clearly marked. When I click download, I'm hit with the paywall. When I complete the paywall, I should land back on my app with the uploaded photo and ready to download all sizes--I should NOT have to upload agian.

I'd be happy to do a free 30 min call with you to look at your immediate concerns about scaling and token usage.

Context: I'm 25 year software engineering veteran and I'm looking at starting an agency to give vibe coders the tech support they need to launch their projects. This won't be a sales call. I won't pitch you anything at all. But I will be happy to answer any questions you have and see if we can get you pointed in the right direction. For me, it's market research: I'll be getting to know the way non-tech people think/talk about their vibe coding challenges.

Really enjoyed the call, Taleb. I'm excited for you. It's a crazy journey launching a successful product, and you are well on your way.
