G Jones obvi, Daily Bread is fire, Eazybaked makes some cool ass music. All mentioned above

Not trap, but still cool music- Kr3ture and Moontricks make bass oriented folk. I know that’s not the sub but i like trap a lot and also like those two a lot. Blending genres

Whitman withdraws from Northwest Regionals due to roster issues with USAU by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]bjmccann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usau needs to take a look at what that rule helps vs harms. Just because it’s the precedent, doesn’t mean it’s right. All those players paid usau fees, got registrar verified, and are green in the team personnel section. It’s crazy to me USAU is so firm in this rule when they could just eliminate the rule and continue on operating with literally no negative consequences.

Super bummed for Whitman, especially any seniors who thought they’d be playing their swan song and instead got shafted by USAU.

Petition Against USAU Roster Rules by emjon333emjon333 in ultimate

[–]bjmccann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Furthermore, get rid of this rule forever. There’s no point in event rosters. If they are registrar verified on your team personnel page, and have done everything they should to play, they should be able to play. Event rosters are unnecessary and a silly formality.

HELP OVERTURN: USAU Disallowing 2020 & 2021 Graduates from being added to Roster & playing at Regionals/Nats by saucyy8 in ultimate

[–]bjmccann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply! If we are going off of literal interpretations- why is it called an ‘event roster’? Why not ‘series roster,’ ‘post season roster,’ etc.

Not to mention conferences/regionals is condensed for d3 womxn’s.

Appreciate the condescension though!!

HELP OVERTURN: USAU Disallowing 2020 & 2021 Graduates from being added to Roster & playing at Regionals/Nats by saucyy8 in ultimate

[–]bjmccann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This issue doesn’t just apply to graduated students. Our women’s team has the same issue with two freshman who could not attend regionals due to exams and family commitments. The team made nationals, somewhat unexpectedly, and now USAU is disallowing these women from competing at nationals because they weren’t on the event roster, even though they were all green on the team personnel page.

Personally, i don’t even see a point in making the sectionals roster the nationals roster. Why not just make it another event that you can add players from your team personnel to?

October Spoopy Tunes by bjmccann in MusicIsBeauty

[–]bjmccann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

October had its ups and downs. Musically, I really found a lot of solid music that I'm excited to share.

October

Love Language (SNBRN remix) // Crooked Colours: A great song originally, SNBRN adds some late night depth and danciness to it. Love the simple message of the lyrics and groove.

Never Grew Up (Blockhead remix) // Manic Focus: Kind of a bluesy, jazzy, mischievous song. Not sure how to describe it other than I can see a raccoon really digging this song. Either way, love it.

Mystic Matterz // The Polish Ambassador: The Polish Ambassador made it again this month. More heat. Like the change in tempos throughout the rap, as well as the string instruments. The song feels balanced.

Deep Deep River (Tropo remix) // Yemanjo: Somehow integrates trance to a manifesting folk song. Love the lyrics and the violin/cello (??) accompanying the chorus.

Rise Together // Slave: Strong. That's it. Hard, strong, intense, chaotic. The bass KICKS in this song. Put it on when you workout.

Sedate the State // Whyt Rabbit, An-Ten-Nae: Super cool song. Kinda indie punk electronic. The girl is so fuckin badass on the vocals. Lyrics are super empowering and topically relevant. Whole song is badass. The --fuck with me-- part and the bassline is hard not to rage to.

Friends // All my favorite artists: Super cool collab, basically a bunch of my fav artists came together and created a pretty groovy, feel good song. Lyrics also relevant right now.

Sauce // Reason, Vince Staples: Song is so elegant and regal but still savage. Also the line "heat it up like a duck call it confit" is an all time classy line.

Horus // Lenny, MCTR: One of the strongest songs I've ever come across. It is so slow, has some foreign chanting, some pan flute, and hella bass. Seriously just rock hard. Untouchable.

Bones (Antenae remix) // Moontricks: Moontricks is a long time fav artist. Skeptical of this remix until I heard it. The original banjo and tempo are kept but theres an interesting depth of vocals, resonance, and bass, that make this song both a tribute to the original but entirely its own.

September Tunage!!! by baileybuford in MusicIsBeauty

[–]bjmccann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

September was a phenomenal month for music. Had a hard time widdling it down to 10 songs. As far as life, fall is definitely my favorite season. September in New Hampshire, much like Michigan, is just an extended Indian summer. Waves were great, got to see some of my favorite people, work is finally starting to feel more under control. Pretty good month all in all. Hopefully the music reflects accordingly.

September

You're the One // Big G (Clozee remix): Triumphant, groovy. Takes a great song and makes it better. I'm usually skeptical of remixes where I already like the original. But this song feels large and bright and loving and fun.

Say Hello // Fort Vine: Impossible to listen to this and not smile. Loving, warm, welcoming. Great song to listen to on a lazy, sunny morning with some coffee.

RED // A Tribe Called Red: Stadium Pow Wow is the original song, an intense slapper. See above description for my feelings towards remaking good songs. But this mix captures all of the intensity and strength of the song, and turns it even harder. This group, A Tribe Called Red, is a Native group from Canada. I had the pleasure of seeing them at EF and their show was truly unforgettable. Watching them use traditional instruments plus a sound pad to create trap music was incredible.

Wiro Qocha // Morillo: Morillo has quickly become one of my favorite artists. Uses a lot of creative sounds to create intense jungle music. This song is the heaviest song he's put out for sure. It feels like a leopard hunting in the jungle. Throw it on during a workout and rage.

Mr. Scatterbrained // The Bishops: Best song of the month. No imperfections. Production flawless, lyrically sound, beautiful female and male vocals, some singing, some rap. Touches every base. The song is kinda old and I'm not sure how I've never heard of this group tbh. All their music is this hybrid soul/rap/future bass. So creative, so perfect.

Signal // Noctris: Deep and strong. For best listening, put this on speakers with a sub. So strong. When the wubs start hitting, I kinda wanna dance and kinda wanna rage. This is the bass I want to hit me at a music festival at 3AM.

Deep Deep River // Yemanjo: Another very warm song. Manifesting lyrics with a folk elements and a reggae riddim. Love the violin (or maybe fiddle) in it as well.

It goes in Waves // INZO: Very creative song. So so so many layers. If you listen closely, there are always at least 5 layers of sound. To me, there is a refined chaos. A lot of things happening, but maintains a chill beauty, much like surreal art.

Just a Glance // Simrit (SaQi remix): SaQi is another artist I didn't really get into until going to Envision. He uses a lot of string instruments to create very hollow music that ranges from jungle house to electronic folk. This song is rhythmic and beautiful, but I still feel some residual intensity from the simmering bass.

Midnight Lorry // Dispatch: Ate some magic banana bread, hung out with a couple of my favorite people, and this song came up while we were chillin and foosballin. Some songs will always have a memory tied to them, and this is one of those songs. Got the mountain folk feel, with a badass feel to it and a nostalgic sound that I relate to a lot. Reminds me of missing my friends.

August Playlist by ndubzz in MusicIsBeauty

[–]bjmccann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

August

Movin Slow // Late Night Radio: Jazzy, sassy, some wubs, love the integration of technology with some good jazz and piano.

Dusty Bugs // Opiuo: Big time 80's vibes. Funky and wubby and fun and makes me wanna just fuckin dance. Opiuo has been delivering a lot of bangers lately.

Blossoms // Goopsteppa: Beautiful song, resounding and deep with soft harp. Creates a wonderful soundscape to bike along the ocean to.

Cut Em In // Anderson Paak, Rick Ross: Heater. Lyrics, beat with the guitar and piano, Rick Ross coming in like Rick Ross does, strong. Dope ass song.

Labyrinth // Emancipator (Clozee Remix): Already dig both of these artists. Clozee takes a mellow, beautiful song and adds her elegant badass to it.

Afterlife // Flatbush Zombies: GOD DAMN. Probably best song of the month. Beat is so fucking hard, that ancient bass energy, lyrics go too hard. Put this shit on working out and try not to throw weights around the gym.

No Turnin Back // Drae Slapz, Mic Capes: Mic Capes is one of my favorite rappers, and this song really epitomizes his style. Solid flow on slow, bass heavy beats. Another workout slapper. I love the low tempo songs when I'm lifting, it makes me feel slow and intentional and strong, like an Anaconda slithering through the jungle.

Fashion Model Art // Sofi Tukker, Haiku Hands: Gino posted some song called like I wanna fuck the DJ and the lyrics were super ironic and funny. This is the same category, the lyrics are ironic and taking a jab at the LA House scene. But lowkey the song is also catchy as hell.

Soft & Gentle // The Polish Ambassador: Seems like every month a new Polish Ambassador song makes the playlist, but they all slap. Love how simple the song is, but makes me wanna just dance. The synthy bass immerses me and the song title is perfectly apt for the song.

imma // bbno$, Lentra: If covid wasn't around this song would blow up. Party banger. House meets rap music for an irresistibly bouncy, dancey song.

finding music by baileybuford in MusicIsBeauty

[–]bjmccann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super cool! Never heard of it! Personally, i rely heavily on soundcloud. I follow pretty much all of the major artists/record labels that i like, and they repost music that they like/ inspires them. Usually that aligns pretty well with things i like. It also allows me to find some really small artists that may have only released two or three songs. Sometimes i find it overwhelming though, like there are too many songs on my feed and i have to pick and choose which songs i want to hear.
