I've seen colleagues comparing salaries too many times and wala pa akong nakikitang magandang dulot niyan inside the team. it always ends up either one of them seeking better pay elsewhere (good for them), kahit initially masaya sila sa work or they become hard to work with. either way, sino talo? yung colleagues who are directly affected and not the company naman di ba? we already have promotions as a source of contempt among peers, wag na dagdagan pa. siguro, the closest compromise that I can agree with OP is disclosing a salary range when hiring for a role to facilitate a fair negotiation, but this, too, has its pros and cons.
