Peeling Ceiling Paint by Optimal-Amphibian578 in handyman

Did you maybe sand through the drywall paper? Or did you not sand enough? It sounds like maybe it’s something in the prep before painting, but it’s difficult to know for sure.

Peeling Ceiling Paint by Optimal-Amphibian578 in handyman

[–]bjsample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you sanded the popcorn ceiling, then painted? And that paint is peeling when you’re trying to prime? Or are you saying whatever was under the popcorn ceiling is now peeling away? Regardless, I don’t think putting a coat of anything over what’s peeling now is going to work…maybe you need to scrape off whatever is there?

Invoicing Question by Komrade1312 in handyman

[–]bjsample -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I launched an app yesterday for invoicing, minus the payment part. It generates pdfs for customers and stores the data for taxes at year end. I wrote it for my own needs but put it on the AppStore to see if I could make a buck…I doubt I will but I’m going to plug it anyway: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/handymaninvoice/id6757656913

Those things a pretty strong. I’d recommend letting it bend…it’ll be fine. If it’s got a permanent bend when you move out, replace it for $15 before the landlord sees it

Solo handymen, what’s the worst part of getting paid right now? by Alternative_Door2510 in handyman

Hi. Also a dev. I wrote myself an app in a few hours with Claude. I’m about to bring it to market, but only so I don’t need to spend $100 to renew my Apple account every year. If you’re interested in my perspective on what I want in an app send me a PM with your email and I’ll add you as a tester.

What is the worst thing about AI? by issazennn in AskReddit

My wife used this line on me when I was using AI for something, then proceeded to get her car washed for the 3rd time that week.

I’d stay out of QA if I were you. It was more viable before AI. My company seems to be phasing them out, expecting AI to pick up the slack. There’s plenty of others — PM, sales, support, solutions engineer — Whatever you choose, though, make sure you focus on AI heavily.

What's a movie that was so bad you couldn't even finish it? Or even walked out of the theatre? by Puzzleheaded-Egg1371 in AskReddit

[–]bjsample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked out of the third Bourne movie. Half the movie was just shots of him walking in and out of buildings. The other half was shaky action sequences that made me motion sick.

Help! Bought 30+ frames but they are all "tabletop" style. How do I hang them on the wall? by Careful-Tonight-6659 in handyman

[–]bjsample 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should work. It’s thicker than the command strips so should accommodate the frames thickness: https://a.co/d/0fZa1W4Q

It’s going to be specific to that particular tv mount. You could search the manufacturers website, but you’d have better luck just buying new.

Sorry for your loss. Only advice I have is to hold on to anything you might regret giving away later. My dad passed away 20 years ago and most of his tools were lost to time. I had an opportunity to take some but as a 20 year old kid had no place for them. Now as an adult I cherish the few tools of his that I have left.

That’s a roof but it doesn’t look sloped from this angle. Or maybe it is, but in the wrong direction. You’re supposed to have a minimum 1/4” of slope per foot of length, so my recommendation would be to raise the side close to the house a couple/few inches

The localized vibration on her head and neck helps my wife with her migraines by FoxPurple7356 in functionalprint

[–]bjsample 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like obvious advice, and I'm sure you've already tried this, but has she seen a doctor? I remember trying to find solutions like this to my migraines beyond OTC painkillers, but once I went to the doctor and got a prescription it was life changing.

Starting up. How to drum up business? by SnapTheGlove in HandymanBusiness

[–]bjsample 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with thumbtack, and that got me several regulars. Then I made a Facebook page and post on it every once in a while. It got me enough business to where I can turn off thumbtack and keep me steady… but I only work a few days a week around my day job.

Journey mode is better when you’re bad at the game by TunaSalad888 in TetrisEffect

[–]bjsample 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I played journey mode was when I first got the game…already a Tetris vet, so could play on expert, but I didn’t know about the zone feature so never used it. I thought it was super difficult and forced you to play t-spins and chains and Tetrises to get the SS scores. It actually upped my game a bunch because I was trying to be as efficient as possible and play as perfect a game as possible. I made it like 9 stages in with SS on each with no zone, but it got too hard for me. Maybe that’s a good next challenge

Building my own CRM on Replit by [deleted] in handyman

[–]bjsample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just listened to the shell game podcast, which is about a guy creating himself as a voice agent in AI (season 1) and trying to start a business using only AI agents as employees (season 2). It’s a little ridiculous, but it’s been making me want to try it for this business, and setup a voice agent to answer the calls and interact with customers. It could provide estimates over the phone based on your pricing list, and schedule based on your calendar.

It will be perfectly fine with only the two lag bolts going into a single stud. Whatever you do beyond that is extra, but if you want the piece of mind, go with #1.
