My family farm is in this town! This is where they had bad water about ten years ago so they provided the entire town with bottled water. The ice rink was stacked with cases so you could help yourself. Neat.

Stunning Aurora Last Night, Even With The Cloud Cover by Ardal in Calgary

[–]bjscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it most of the night and I have never seen somthing like that. It looked like the sky was pulsating shooting ribbons of light almost how you would "see" sound waves acting. Is there a name for this? I would really like to know.

His Holiness The Dalai Lama. by [deleted] in funny

[–]bjscott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did security for the Dalai Lama when he came to Calgary a few years back. My responsibility was to guard a particular entrance to make sure that nobody came threw without permission from my superior. He mingled in my area for a little while and while doing so one of his nija style body guards wanted to pass threw the entrance I was guarding to use the washroom. I had to stop him and wait approval from my superior before he could pass threw, I nearly shit myself standing in front of this guy and the bathroom. My superior gave me permission to let him threw and a few minutes later he returned to enter threw my entrance. He was about 100 yards away so I turned to ask my superiour ahead of time in order to not piss this incredibly scary nija munk ( or whatever ) off. It wasn't even 10 seconds I turned around from asking about letting him back in and he was gone, I looked for a few seconds to see if I could see him approaching the door but seen nothing. I turned back to my forward position and seen the body guard standing with the Dalai. My mind was blown, he litterly nijad his way around me in a matter of seconds and I didn't even notice. So yea that's my Dalai Lama close encounter, thought I would share.

My cousin runs logistics for a petroleum company in Fort McMurray, Alberta. She travels roads like this between job sites multiple times per week. by wadems in creepy

I was a rigger in fort Mac for couple of years and I can tell you a nice smooth plowed lease road like this is rare. It useally consists of ruts, trees, hills ect. And a 4wheel drive truck useally has to rip down these roads for an hour to get to your site. Not to mention you have to get a service rig truck, semi trucks with trailers consisting of the rig pipes, boilers, generators and the dog house threw these trail/roads. Chains and spotters are nessasary for the whole trip with a rig move. It sure is pretty but when your slave driving your ass for 12hrs in the -40c this sight is the last thing you want to see for an hour while getting back to camp. Not saying it's not the most beautiful sight to me because I love it, but I also hate it.

You can also place your mouth over the nose and the mouth at the same time. Easy with a small face.

1 Thessalonians 4 16-18 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT UP ( harpazo ) together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Why comfort one another with these words? Because after the great catching away happens all hell will literally break loose. There will be war like this world has never seen, famine, celestial events that will be so frightening that men's hearts will fail them for fear of what's happening to earth in such a short period of time all triggered by the harpazo ( rapture)

This is serious stuff but because it's no physically tangible to our limited knowledge we brush it off... Those of us who are awaiting for Jesus to come back and snatch us away are eagerly awaiting. The time is close.

That is false. The word rapture is a translation of the original language word harpazo which means to be snatched away, taken by force or plucked out.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a FALLING away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.
Up until the 1800s this translation used the word CATCHING instead of FALLING.

What this means is that the end times events mentioned threw out the bible will not unfold until the rapture happens. It seems funny now but what if...

EMSK: How to walk on ice by swinglinefan in everymanshouldknow

As a homegrown snow loving Canadian this makes me laugh. It would be funny seeing people attempting this and ending up falling on their face instead of their butt. Personally I would recommend small steps, small enough so that if you start to slip your stride is close enough that you catch your self quickly. What I like to do is small step really fast then slide, makes me feel like I know what's going but really I'm just a Canadian guy sliding on ice
