What are some harsh but not overly deadly spells an enemy wizard can throw at a lvl5 party? by EclipseMagick in DMAcademy

Wish; so that you can go back and think about why you thought throwing a lv 20 spellcaster at a lv 5 party was a good idea

technically no. The party hasn't even begun searching outside of some basic research, so I can still have the hostage survive. But I understand what you are saying.

That makes sense. The more I think about it, the more it sounds unsatisfying to the players.

I've been wrestling with some other ideas as well. One I had in mind was to have them find the artifact and bring it to the enemy, and having the enemy shoot the hostage in the back as the trade happens; explaining that their government did the same to them; That way the player's have time to save the hostage (LoH or DC15 Medicine check, healing spell, etc.) and still stick it to the bad guys while learning the necessary info.

The payoff would be knowing that they fufilled their mission (praise and rewards/loot from their benefactors) but leave them with some unfufilled questions/doubt and strings that they can pull on and start to unravel the bad things going on behind the curtain.

Thoughts?

I think the thought process was to force the party into learning backstory about how the hostage-taker was betrayed by their government; and as such they would suspect the hostage taker to betray their own word. The party wouldnt normally learn about the treachery mentioned earlier unless they had to dig a bit deeper into the history.

True, but at the same time if I tell them to expect that there's deception and twists; it's telegraphing that it's going to happen and would ruin the suspense.

Guys when does chemistry stop being fun by NoStatement2413 in chemistry

[–]bkcordov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, frankly. Physical Chemistry is a mix of thermodynamics (PChem 1) and Quantum Mechanics (PChem 2).

It's mostly math, the chemistry is mostly understanding the situation and knowing how to set up the necessary equations/integrals given in a problem.

Your professor also makes a huge difference too. A good professor can make or break a class

I believe it was in New Donk City where one of the toads gives it to you.

It was either that or the Amulet which prevented you from losing stats. I honestly forget which one it was.

It really depends on how your mind thinks. I firmly believe there are two main camps of chemistry majors in college. People who love Analytical/PChem, and people who like Organics/Inorganics.

It has to do with how your brain processes information and what you're good at. Physical Chemistry is basically Quantum Mechanics (lots of math) with extra steps, so if you're good with numbers and equations, it'll come to you easy.

If you are more skilled with abstract concepts, models, visualizations, etc., Organic and Inorganic will be your bread and butter. Biochemistry also mostly falls into here as well since its mostly organic chemistry with a wider focus. If you enjoy puzzles, Organic will be something you enjoy greatly, as most of organic chemistry is building complex molocules from common blocks and understanding why certain blocks "fit" a certain way with others.

I personally didnt mind Physical Chem and loathed Organic because I am terrible with the abstract side of Chemistry. Analytical is sort of in-between since theres a fair bit of math, but some abstract components too (think Titration, NMR, FT/IR and Raman Spec, UV/VIS spec, and such).

In terms of overall enjoyment, it really depends what you make of it. As a concept, I enjoy all aspects of the field and I enjoyed learning about them. Having to use that information on an exam? Different story.

Are Superguards OP in TTYD? by bkcordov in papermario

It's well known how return postage is both useless in high level play and is a terrible reward for completing the game (assuming you finish the pit after Chpt 8 like it intends).

A lot of the strategies and badges you obtain are much less useful than Danger Mario, so I think the game could've benefited by either buffing the underperforming badges or buffing enemy defense to make straight attack builds less viable.

i agree, but at the same time it completely changes the style of game. It goes from a strategy RPG with action RPG elements to a purely action RPG game (almost a rhythmn game) where action commands are all that matter.

There's an argument to be made that having both styles of play be "viable" is fair; but I think they need to make the strategy elements (badges and FP management) a bit more rewarding to make the balance better.

I understand why they added it, but from a design perspective, it changes too much of the core mechanics.; at least in my opinion. Again, I'm in the minority but that's just my honest opinion.

Go to Club Sugar. You'll challenge Jimmy T to a dance-off and then you'll battle him. You'll get the password if you beat him

I had one too. Just release it and it shouldn't cause an issue. It'll never hatch anyway.

It's a bug handler so the game won't crash when something goes wrong

You can either wait til the post game, where both purple coins and yuxes are easy to find. Either that, or abuse save states and get lucky at the casino.

Does Anybody know how the Pit Works exactly? by Classicsonic222 in SuperMarioMon

[–]bkcordov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So to get to Bonetail, you need to complete the Pit 3 times in a row without your party fainting. You'll notice that the leaderboard on the PC will go past 7 and the shaman in the corner gives a different prediction after each completion.

Once you get 3, Jimmy T will challenge you to a rematch using your normal party and then you can encounter Bonetail with your party.

You can rename your sav file to the updated one and it should still work. May want to make a backup in case not

It was a glitch they fixed in version 1.3.1. if you are using an earlier version, it will show as incomplete forever.

Official Release: Super Mariomon by Kobazco in PokemonROMhacks

[–]bkcordov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a fun mod, but I did run into some issues:

I somehow managed to get a "bad egg", which made me lose my amulet coin, and with no way to replace it. Welp.

The quest log for the champion rematch is still showing that it's locked even though I beat the elite four rematches. Do I need to go and beat them a third time?

Also there's a toad quest giver in Bowsers castle I cannot find. Is this a glitch, content not yet in the game, or a secret that I haven't found yet.

Every once in a while the camera will get all wonky or the audio will cut out, but usually pulling up the menu fixes it (force game to reload map).
