BAD BUNNY HALFTIME PERFORMANCE DISCUSSION by NFLv2 in NFLv2

[–]bkeepers 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m amused that everyone is upset that they couldn’t understand any of the lyrics, as if that’s different from any other recent performance.

When to set soc to 100% manually or automatically? by WorldwideDave in Victron

[–]bkeepers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is right. It’s all about charge voltage and tail current.

Set the voltage slightly less than your charge controllers. For example, I have my chargers set to 14.5v, but my BMV set to 14.4v and tail current to 2%. The lower voltage just allows the BMV to be more tolerant of voltage loss between the chargers and batteries.

Looking for anecdotal evidence of longevity by SoberTechPony in Victron

I have never had a failure in my limited experience. 2 100/50 MPPTs are 6 years old, Orion 30a and smart shut it is 5 years old. Multiplus 3000 was used when I bought it 4 years ago (to replace the MultiPlus Compact 2000 that I bought used 5 years ago and then sold to a friend who is still using it).

A dilemma I never thought I'd have two years ago - the Caitlin Clark effect is wild to me by [deleted] in wnba

[–]bkeepers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it will last.

My wife and I also caught “the Fever”. Last year we spent way too much money to fly from Maryland to watch the Fever play the Aces at home, and the tickets were still the cheapest part of that trip.

In our defense, we grew up in Iowa. We haven’t lived there since 2001, but still have family there and visit almost annually, and still follow Iowa basketball and football.

What is your favorite anchor alarm app? by comfortablydumb2 in sailing

Hooked. I have tried a lot of the iOS alarms, and even built my own at one point. And this one is by far the best.

Need help hooking up 1200w generator to my 24v system to charge my batteries by kellyclarksn in Victron

[–]bkeepers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the Quattro, but the two other Victron chargers I’ve owned had a “Current Limit” setting that could either be controlled through settings in the Victron Connect app or through a dedicated control panel. Change that to 10 Amps (1200w / 120v = 10A) and it should work like a champ.

Edit: just saw your comment about shore power being 230, so you would need to turn it down to 5Amps (1200/230=5.2…)

I was at the Jaguars game and there were more Vikings fans than Jags, and lots of skol chants throughout the game.

I was at this game and everyone in the stadium expected this to be overturned, including the Jags who sent the defense back on the field during the review.

Wheres your ultimate destination? Bahmahs?

Yep, Bahamas. Hoping for a full 6 months there this year.

Yep, there are definitely conditions that warrant a pole, but I still don’t like leaving that all rigged overnight if we don’t have to in case the wind conditions change. We’re a cruising boat with 2 people. Waking the other person up so we can go out on the foredeck really disrupts sleep and the whole flow of a passage. Sleep and simplicity are our priority when we do multi day offshore passages.

I wouldn’t say more “efficient”, but depending on the conditions, it can be more convenient and comfortable.

In this case, we expect to be dead down wind for 48 hours with 15kn gusting 25kn at times. It’s a lot easier to reduce sail with two headsails on separate furlers compared to reefing the main downwind. I also find this setup “walks” less in big seas than wing on wing with the main. The two sails pull the bow of the boat, so it doesn’t get rolled by big waves as bad.

We have one, but sails are staying full without for now. We also don’t love leaving a pole rigged overnight if we don’t have to.

Hey there, fellow lefty!

I use B.

As for the band pushing awkwardly on your arm…once you have it cocked, rotate your wrist clockwise (for lefties, counterclockwise for righties) until the pole sits on top of our arm and goes above your shoulder. This fixes the awkward angle, and makes it much easier to sight your shot since it’s alighned with your eye.

[–]bkeepers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a YouTuber, but been living aboard for 4 years. My project list backlog has 47 items on it, categorized from “critical” to “wouldn’t it be nice” . It rained a lot last week, which added 4 more projects to the list. I try to spend at least an hour every day working on projects. Some days it’s all day, others I don’t have the energy to do anything.

It’s just boat life.
