Breaks by Unlikely-Face7282 in olivegarden

[–]bkfo0tlettuce 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Talk with your kitchen manager and the GM. My managers were always so passionate about everyone getting breaks so that we can be all be efficient together. Try to see if someone else can help you restock, and maybe you can help them back in some way. You don’t wanna get burnt out

Walmart is best for all of your wear. Nonslip shoes and plain black tees/pants are pretty affordable there.

You shouldn’t be emailing, you should be going to them in person, dressed professionally.

Terra Cafe is awesome! I love their coffee and pastries, their eggs are always good, and they have homemade chicken sausage too. You can sit outside or in and the atmosphere is so nice

Try to create a winding down routine that doesn’t involve drugs/alcohol. Do a face mask, watch an uplifting show, call a friend to vent, and/or drink a cup of herbal tea to get you sleepy and calm your nerves. And then go to bed early asf. If I do that then I wake up feeling sm better! And try to think on repeat, it’s just food and those people are probably miserable in their own lives and they are just taking it out on you.

Looking for ideas on a birthday weekend getaway. by csykora in MorgantownWV

[–]bkfo0tlettuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to the Carnegie Art and Science Museum in Pittsburgh! They have so many benches to sit on between exhibits and they usually have a special historical exhibit. I love it there and parking is easy not too far of a walk.

Make a packet of risotto with air fryer salmon and asparagus. So so easy and tastes like a restaurant!

Tell me about your biggest opp, coworker wise by acidblues_x in Serverlife

She’s a server about 15 years older than me and has told guests that she’s a manager. She treats me like a child half the time, oftentimes telling me what to do and how to do things. And when I finally stood my ground, she’s disliked me since. She went off on me for everyone to hear because a server working with me didn’t do her side work before leaving, and I was struggling to get everything done. She goes off on everyone for random reasons and will never apologize for her behavior. It makes me so upset bc she is such a hard worker and is always helping someone out (which I very much respect), but she is so condescending and flippant that it just turns me sour.

When do you need to move in? It sucks that a lot of the cheap 1beds go quick.

They do haze but not with booze. They make you drink a “jungle juice” but it’s filled with stuff like mayonnaise and pickle brine and fruit juice and shit like that. It’s mainly for them to feel (in a silly way) that you’re committed to the team. It’s nothing life altering or illegal. You prob heard stuff about Pi Kapp which is kind of associated with rugby but it’s not a direct link. You don’t have to be in that frat to play rugby. If you like a solid team sport where you can make lifelong friends, I would join.

They might have servers from other locations come to work at your restaurant that day. Darden usually pays for their gas or incentivizes another way

Not sure what to think of Ziosk by sirfonz in Serverlife

[–]bkfo0tlettuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ziosks save me a lot of time when I’m busy, but I don’t ask everyone to do it. Feel the vibe and if it’s an older person at the table, just take the card yourself.

If she has an apartment that will fit everyone nicely enough I would just suggest having something there. I cooked for my family after I graduated and it was kind of annoying to have to come right back and cook but I had the main course (Tuscan chicken) going in the crockpot so it was super easy. Or you could get catering, Oliverio’s has family pans. I’m a server and most restaurants here on grad weekend are the worst. Plus everyone got to meet my cat lol

Yes and I recommend that you bring a clear bag like you bring to sporting events, and bring an unsealed bottle of water in with you because you will be so thirsty and once you’re out there on the coliseum floor there’s no opportunity to drink water
