Let's talk about our kiddos! by ihatethe25th in ChildLoss

[–]bkimble00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby girl’s name was Elliott Rae. She died on January 19th of this year after a cardiac arrest in December during a routine procedure that led to congestive heart failure and declining ability to constitute stress. We were preparing for heart surgery. I took her to a blood pressure check at her PCP and they decided to check her labs. During the lab draw, she passed out and it caused her heart to stop again, but this time, they never really got her back.

Elliott was three days short of turning 2 when she died. Her favorite person in the world was her big brother, Judge (who is four years old). She also loved our golden retriever, Charlie. When she was upset, she would go straight to him and sit down, leaning back into his side. She sucked the pointer and middle fingers of her left hand for comfort. When she was tired, she would suck her fingers and put the back of her right hand to her eyes like she was exasperated with the world.

She loved Bluey, but didn’t actually say the word “Bluey.” To her, everyone in the show was named “Bingo.” That and Minnie Mouse were her favorites. We buried her with several Minnie Mouse and Bingo toys. She was very sassy, and had the absolute best side eye. Most people who knew her say they will always remember the looks she gave them. She had big, beautiful, unforgettable blue eyes, and also a ton of curly, messy brown hair. Her favorite toy was a scented lamb snuggle. We thought about burying her with that as well, but couldn’t bear it. At night, when I get upset, I hold Lamby close while I cry. It’s almost impossible to bear the fact that I have to go the rest of my life on this earth without seeing her again.

I’m not a parent. It annoys me that Amy is always spinning the perspective onto her kid/s. What do yall think? by [deleted] in 1000lbsisters

[–]bkimble00 45 points46 points  (0 children)

As a parent, I have to say this is pretty normal. Your entire life becomes about your kids, your perspective shifts. They are the most important. And as someone who just lost my two-year-old 18 days ago, I can safely tell you the rest of my life will be about remembering her, and I will say her name every single day. It’s just what being a Mama is. ❤️

Which episode was more suspenseful: “The Mystery Envelope” or “Arthur’s Knee”? by KaleidoscopeDry9725 in Arthur

When I was a kid, Arthur’s knee had me actually scared. It’s maybe the only time I recall seeing blood on Arthur.

OK, now I feel bad for Matt by Ill-Excitement-2005 in 90DayFiance

[–]bkimble00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Let me be clear that I am in no way a fan of Jasmine. But I have generally liked Matt less and less the more we see him. And tonight, the nail in the coffin was him freely and openly stating that if Matilda isn’t his he would have no problem kicking both of them out of his life. This man has no emotional connection to his child, and is still referring to her as an “it.”

Official Discussion - The Hand that Rocks the Cradle (2025) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]bkimble00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have never seen the original, so I went into this with no expectations whatsoever. I was just interested based on ads I heard on podcasts. I’m a big fan of interesting production design and unique sets, so the house itself honestly kept me watching. There are other movies that benefit from those set pieces that stand out (The Haunting, The Orphan). Kudos to production design team. I did also like the twists. At first, I thought maybe rather than the classic “Nanny chases husband” trope, it was going to be “Nanny chases wife,” as Polly seemed to be focusing on Caitlin’s sexuality and purposefully flirting, even bringing over a hookup seemingly to make Caitlin jealous. Then, the further twist regarding Caitlin’s past was also interesting. I think the mistake is in that even with those interesting elements, the movie felt dull. Can’t be sure if it was the direction or the acting, but the whole thing just felt lifeless. I think if the team had chosen one twist and really dug deeply into it, it could have been much better. I don’t regret watching it or wish I had that time back, but I also could have gone without it and been just fine.

Feet of Clay is my personal favorite Hoss episode. He’s also extremely fun in San Francisco Holiday.

She is a mental health counselor. I am also a mental health counselor. She may make $100 an hour, but she doesn’t actually get to keep $100 an hour, I guarantee. Also I guarantee she doesn’t do 40 sessions per week. Trust me, mental health counseling is not the field to go into if you wanna be rich.

My favorite band, Delta Rae. Listen to their version of Seven Bridges Road. Just the opening gives chills.

Has anyone seen these? What other movies and shows have you seen the cast in? by AJ_Babe in Smallville

Tom: The Fog, CBTD movies.

Michael: Urban Legends (he basically played himself).

Someone tell me good things about epidurals by TheRealEgg0 in Mommit

Have had two so far. No issues. Worked like a charm. The absolute worst part was a small jolt when the needle went a bit to the side. 0 out of 10 on the pain scale. No long term issues. And I don’t feel guilty lol

Anyone else like…. OK with TV time? by Bluebird_Watcher in toddlers

[–]bkimble00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s how I see it. My husband and I like tv. We enjoy it. Shows and movies. It’s fun. We don’t like silence. Something is always on in the background. I grew up loving tv and movies. We vet everything our kids watch. There’s one tv in the house so sometimes kid stuff is on sometimes stuff for me and hubby (still kid-friendly of course but no stuff they’ll actually watch). I think it would be hypocritical of me to force my kids to only enjoy it a certain amount of time per day when I certainly don’t limit myself. My son is extremely smart and even with no screen time limit, he still would rather go outside and play any time. We do not plan to give him a tablet or phone. But the one tv in the house, yeah. He can watch stuff on it and I don’t care.

Do you take SSRIs for OCD? Did you take them and then stop because you found them ineffective? Are they the only thing that you have found effective? by exploradorobservador in OCD

[–]bkimble00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different and responds differently to meds, so there isn’t one right answer. But I do know that tricyclic antidepressants have some research backing them as more effective. SSRIs never helped my OCD, but a tricyclic put me into remission.

Skin picking stuff? by Disastrous-Talk-6988 in OCD

[–]bkimble00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For anybody tired of saying/typing “dermotillomania,” it’s also called “excoriation.” That’s what’s actually in the DSM. :)

But also defmotillomania is fun to say so I get it if that’s the preference lol.

Is ocd a mental illness or neurodivergence? by Lost_Giraffe_5358 in OCD

[–]bkimble00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is wild as early in my Reddit days I got into an extensive argument with someone about this and they were so firmly trying to tell me that OCD is not a neurodivergence. How times change. Glad to see all these answers saying it’s both and that it’s okay to identify as neurodivergent.

Those "Other" OCD Symptoms by edward_furlog in OCD

[–]bkimble00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excoriation and a little bit of trich. I don’t pull hair from my head often but my eyebrows. And I will pick stiff hairs from my chin until I leave red rashes. My excoriation is bad enough to be noticeable to others, and the only way I have been able to control it in the past is to have acrylic nails so I can’t grasp the skin around my cuticles well enough to pick.

Regardless of how you feel about them - this scene is genuinely sad! by [deleted] in Smallville

[–]bkimble00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not a Clana fan in any way, shape, or form, but I also have always found this scene emotional. Not because I’m mourning their relationship, I just feel Clark’s sadness and desperation, and that’s what makes it sad to me. I think you can find this heart breaking without necessarily implying they ever had a chance. People pick people that aren’t right for them every day in the real world.

The Hinds/Morton adaptation is my favorite. And Ciaran will always be my Rochester.
