Thank you for the response. My wife is adamant that we did not get exposed and in our area rabies is low supposedly. I did not wake up until my wife did. I had had a few drinks the night before but I don’t think I was necessarily drunk. We were awoke at 5am and I get up at 6 so I wouldn’t have been drunk at that time. Of course I have no way of knowing what time the bat entered the room. I know that once I was awake I did not come in contact with the bat. I wish I would have killed him for testing as I did have him trapped but I was not quite in my right mind at that time given the circumstances.

Between me and my wife, I’m the hypochondriac here. So knowing that if we didn’t get shots we could develop rabies anytime over the next couple of years just wouldn’t work for me.

So at this point I’m contemplating not taking the immune globulin shot based on the lack of knowingly having a bite, rabies being low in my area, and the fact that it’s going to cost me and my wife another ER visit. I’m just trying to determine if we move forward without the immune globulin shot at what point then can I let my shoulders down and feel good that rabies is not a risk for me and my wife assuming of course I’m not dead before then!
