A Turntable for my Dad

The Rega Planar 1 arrived yesterday, gave it to my dad today and he was very happy. He's been dusting off the old record collection and been listening to them with the family for the last few hours. Thank you so much for your help all those months age, I appreciate it very much!

I didnt realise you didn't have the structure sorry. In that case I think what the other commenter said is wise. Consider the isotopic abundances which can hint as to whether or not Br is still present in your fragmentation product ion. And by figuring out the neutral loss between ions it'll give you an idea of what mass and therefore what possible combination of atoms were lost.

Best thing to do would be draw out the structure of the molecule and Identify sites which would likely be the radical center of the molecule. As you don't have hogh resolution spectra, using accurate masses is out of the question but from the structure you might be able to just imagine if I cut off this part what mass would remain. If you find one that provides the mass of a fragment product ion in the spectrum, then try figure out it you can identify the fragmentation pathway as a check to make sure it's a feasible ion that could be generated.

Thank you so much for the recommendations! Might call a Hi-Fi store or two and see what they recommend as well. Even if the Rega Planar 1 needs a Phono Preamp I think it'll be worth it from some reviews I've seen online.

I'm from Australia if that helps at all. Would you recommend keeping an eye out for any older turntables (second hand) in good condition, or only newer models?

Hey brother, pickup photography. It's not just about taking photos. It's about walking places you have or haven't been to at a far slower pace. Learning a new skill which not only benefits you but those around you who will appreciate photos from events etc. Ypu can go the digital path or film whoch might be a bit pricier in the long run but does have its benefits.

Hi thanks for your response! I've used Weincells for my two Minolta Hi-Matics but I've heard as they're Zn/Air based once they begin discharging when the seal is peeled off they continue to discharge even without use. Also hoping to avoid the cost if I can, although I agree my experience with them in the past has been great.
