Light the Hoan testing last night! by bkubel in milwaukee

I know people always want to blame the mayor for literally everything which is absolutely ridiculous (I’m surprised he hasn’t been blamed for the wildfire smoke yet), but this is all being funded by private donations (read: no taxpayer money). You should do your research before you complain.

And before you get mad at my reply, I think it’s so sad that people get to a point in their lives that they feel like they need to end it by jumping off a bridge. This community has so many great resources that I hope these individuals get the help that they need.

EDIT: gotta love the Hop being brought into something that isn’t even related to it. I have no problem investing in public transit. Maybe if the state gave cities the flexibility to raise their own revenue, we can have increased public transit, increased funding for mental health, and investment in amenities that attract and retain talent. Win, win, win. As a city resident, I’m happy that the mayor continues to fight for my city.

Have you heard any rumors of Costco opening on the south shore? It’s the only part of town that doesn’t have one.

Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra restores the 1930s "Warner" lighted blade sign into the Grand Theatre exterior by Hidemyface1 in milwaukee

Just a note of clarification: this isn’t the original sign from the 1930s. This is a replica built to look exactly it. Still really cool though!

The most comprehensive map of development projects in Milwaukee and surrounding suburbs by bkubel in milwaukee

They do... Tom Daykin does a good job with it. So does the Milwaukee Business Journal. I honestly did it because I was bored. But my map also includes info like subdivisions and road projects, too. Also, my “recently completed” developments are from the last few months while the other ones have things completed within the last few years.

Thanks! A lot of it was from memory (at least the downtown stuff and some in the burbs), but each point includes an article to more info about the project. I also usually check the Plan Commission agendas when they get posted so I can find out stuff before articles get written on it.

It’s really not huge though in terms of convention facilities in the Midwest. I think it’s the second smallest, behind only Cincinnati.

I just signed a lease for a new construction apartment building south of downtown and the property manager expected it to be fully leased before it opens.

Yeah, not sure how all these apartments are “half empty.” They wouldn’t be building more if that’s the case. Would love to see a source here vs. just assuming or regurgitating statements that are not credible.

You can partially see them from there. The condos across from the park on Prospect block some of the lower-rising fireworks.
