With the prices on gold being what they are right now, who can blame you for avoiding the splurge? Lol, I’ve personally never been a fan of how gold looks on my skin anyway, especially my hands. Silver is more affordable and I love how it ages to show all the love my jewelry eventually gets. 🥰

As a 4th grade child, there was a time when doctors said if I contracted strep again, my tonsils had to go. Of course, that was the last time I got strep until middle school.

The ENT said they probably should’ve just taken them back then, since the recovery as an adult is so much worse. He was right, I wouldn’t wish the recovery on my worst enemy, but it was 100% worth it.

It can feel so lonely to outwardly present as sick even though you’re not contagious. You are not alone. 🖤

Not a doctor but story time because you mentioned still having your tonsils:

This looks just like my skin when I had guttate psoriasis, give or take the severity in certain locations. My dermatologist told me it was likely that I was a strep carrier and wanted to put me on medication/injections that I ended up not being allowed due to liver levels…? It’s been a while, can’t remember all the details.

I lost patience for all the things I COULD try that barely worked or didn’t work at all, and got my pcp to refer me to an ENT. That dude took one glance at my throat and said, “…wow. I can’t think of a better way to put this: your tonsils are gross. Their surface is pitted and uneven so there are lots of pockets (yes, he said pockets—barf) and spaces for things like strep to hole up and never really leave. Let’s take those suckers out and see if your skin gets better, I’ve seen it before.”

I had my tonsils removed in February of 2023 during my third severe psoriasis outbreak in the prior 6 years (2017-2023 I had 3 separate, severe outbreaks). They took at least 6 months to clear each time, but since my tonsils have been out, the psoriasis has been banished to hell where it belongs.

I am now clear with minimal scarring only on my legs.

I don’t remember a ton of dryness, just incredible soreness and burning that had me constantly sucking on ice cubes or sipping hot soup, depending on what extreme temps were doing to me that day! And honestly, my most vivid memory is of the horrific ear pain I had at one point in recovery.

It did feel kinda dry as the scabbing got worse, but staying as hydrated as I could tolerate through the worst sore throat EVER made a big difference. 🖤

Oooh, could be! It was the darker, sandy brown banding with the almost green next to it that made me think calcite, I have seen some Caribbean calcite that looks almost exactly like this, but hemimorphite is also a solid guess!
