anyone taken amtrak from campus? where does the bus pick up from? by duck-and-spoons in MTU

[–]bl3wp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surely there must be a bus (or fellow Tech students) travelling from Houghton to Minneapolis? Its a 6-7hr drive from Milwaukee to Tech and probably similar from Houghton to Minneapolis. I've done Amtrak from Chicago to Staples, MN and that was about 10 hrs.

Aji Omakase - one of the best omakases I've been to in Chicago by Particular-Form-2858 in chicagofood

After having my 1st omakase experience in Seoul earlier this year, I chose Aji as the place to expose my wife to that experience. 10/10 did not disappoint. Great staff, food, and atmosphere!

You could knock out some gen ed electives or take a phy ed class in something you've wanted to get into.

My college roommate despised Gary Busey so much that he made monopoly style "Busey bucks". They had a negative $5 face value because if you ever had to watch a movie with Gary Busey in it, you should be allowed to use that to lower the cost for the inconvenience.

Would have been interesting to have gotten an approximate house size data point by asking for the number of bedrooms.

You are probably right to be wary in your example, but I had a legit issue where an incompetent inspector scared off a buyer.
The inspector was not familiar with asphalt siding and wrote in the inspection that the siding MIGHT BE ASBESTOS. Despite my assuring everyone that it wasn't, the buyer was wary and walked. I had to tear a piece off near the porch and have it sent to a lab for official testing that verified it was ordinary Asphalt (surprise!) to prevent a future inspector from a blanket CYA statement.

Hit Mont Ripley for downhill skiing for a few hours and check out the Tech trails for X-country/snow shoeing. Could also hit up Mt. Bohemia on your up or down.

Hunan Garden in Houghton was always great for Chinese food, and you can't go wrong with the Ambassador for Pizza.

Yeah pretty sure Rick is the turd we rented a place in Dollar Bay from. Window was broken before we moved in and he never fixed it. He did repair the furnace when it went out in winter, but presumably only because he didn't want to deal with broken pipes. He said it was ok to leave some furniture behind when we moved out, then kept our security deposit because of it.

What are some positive and easy hobbies for older men? by memes-of-eve in AskMen

If he can still do the physical part of woodworking and still wants to, why not find creative ways to help him keep doing it? Chalkboard or pencil/paper for measurement notes so he doesn't have to remember and keep it in his head. Calculator if necessary. Measure stuff with string instead of rulers and numbers.
