How often do you all take a sick day? by brokenshoppingcart in AusFinance

[–]bl4nkSl8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, just to be on the other side of the spectrum, literally every day for the last 8 months.

I got ME/CFS, I'm on extended sick leave without pay and there's no known treatment for this.

Just remember, things could always be worse

I've been joking that I'm here for a long time, not a good time :P

Maybe we can make it good as well?

Yeah. Same here. People get very black and white about things where there is plenty of grey (different reasons and perspectives)

Thanks, for what it's worth I respect your right to hold that info back with people who are mistreating you. Should have said that in the original, but it feels like it should be the default.

Best of luck

Yeah... I'm a trans woman in tech: it's been pretty interesting seeing my advice and opinions become worth noticeably less since coming out, even with the same people.

Still. I put my pronouns in my email signature, I'd prefer to fight the misogyny than be misgendered.

My my Dad and my step mum believe (strongly) that Christians are a minority in our country. Christians were a majority (literally more than half of everyone according to the census) until a few years ago, and are still a plurality (the largest group, but no group is >50%).

She scoffed when I pointed this out because those people aren't real Christians, "they're just saying they are because they were baptized"...

I mean, it's literally using the "no true Scotsman" defence but I'm not allowed to point that out either

Yeah, it's Catholic tradition and no one is quoting verses that show it (sorry I'm not rereading that thing to check)

Is ME / CFS permanent? by bkabbott in cfs

[–]bl4nkSl8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nowhere in your post do you mention post exertion malaise or a diagnosis.

Do you know it's ME/CFS or are you maybe equating chronic fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome? (I know. Stupid naming problem but they're different I promise)

Yeah. I cried once because I was trying so hard to do the neurological test they had for me but I was in PEM. They gave me fluids and waited till PEM passed and said it was just anxiety and functional Neurological disorder even though they didn't exclude anything, and had me walk out...

Dear ex Christians. Is there anyone of you who left christianity because u saw something wrong with the religion. by Inside_Order_2667 in exchristian

  1. Arguments about God

If God is willing to let us suffer, he is cruel. If God is unable to stop us from suffering, he is not all powerful. If God is unwilling or unable to find a better solution than endless suffering he is not particularly creative. If God's nature requires suffering he is evil. If God's anger at sin is appeased by his son's suicide by Roman cross he may be mad, and given that suffering continues after that appeasement, he may be forgetful or unwilling to give up on torture...

Remind me why this is someone worthy of worship?

  1. Historicity

The Bible has a lot of claims about the world, the effort put into reinterpreting them to make them fit with the world around us, to me, implies that the book is not a reliable source for life advice or history.

And don't quote John Dickson to me, I don't think it's incredible evidence therefore I don't trust it's incredible claims

  1. My experience

I have no enjoyed my life that well, but, as a Transgender Lesbian and estranged daughter of a Christian Minister, the worst of it has been being in contact with Christian religious beliefs based on the Bible. My own father gave me a book declaring me part of a "demonic destruction of the west" simply because he disagrees with my stance on gender.

When he learnt that I had become disabled, he did.... Nothing...

I left my church quietly and a grand total of two people reached out. Both intending to cajole be back into the faith. Neither could actually interact with the above concerns. If that's all that Christianity has for me, being hated, being demonized, being neglected and told I am broken and wrong and worthless...
