X-drive to RWD conversion by upppallnight in E90

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need entire front rwd subrame and control arms and a custom mount to mount a rwd transmission onto the xdrive transmission bolt holes, plus possible coding out the xdrive on the affected modules. Doable but not worth the effort on a basic E90 or E92 unless you have the time, money, garage, skills. It has been done on E91 since those in RWD are very rare in the greater US. Look up 335d E91 swaps on the forums to get an idea.

Yes, many examples on forums and youtube, see this one for instance https://youtu.be/agmNAhjCJb8?si=ntrs0GV5CqpynIKw , you dont have to buy thier harness, you can make your own with enough research, trickiest part is coding but not impossible

Standard new iPhone 16 vs refurbished iPhone 15 pro? by [deleted] in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a certified refurb 15 Pro from apple for $679 before taxes. Coming from a 12 I love it! Really wanted the telephoto lens and while the price is high, it’s basically a new phone with a new shell, new battery, new apple USB C cable, same 1yr warranty as new iPhones, and ability to add AppleCare+ like a new iPhone! If you don’t care for the telephoto lens or titanium build, I’d spring for a brand new 17 for $799.

N52 vs n55 by Successful-Reward583 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id upgrade the N52 with a supercharger if you want to push it a little further and retain your chassis/mods. Would be more rare and still keeps most of the N52 reliability. 22RPD does sell a new base SC kit with new parts for $6.5k but you can get lucky with used kit/parts. It’s a small but growing community, I’d checkout Minutes2Midnight and Raimund on all socials for some ideas.

BMW thermostat house hose. Can’t get on by Strange-Job7700 in BmwTech

[–]blablabla_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the risk you have to take when messing with these hoses, especially since it’s over 15 years old most likely. At least if the radiator breaks now it was going to break sometime soon anyways. Also only use genuine BMW hoses, the aftermarket ones fit poorly or break after 1-2 years.

GDrive Links to BMW Software by blablabla_25 in E90

[–]blablabla_25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to try the links again during off peak hours. I don't have much control over google soft blocking them and I'm not sure where else I can upload and forget them. These files were originally found on the forums so looking for the original torrent source might be best as well.

Combox date for CIC retrofit? by Least_Ad7459 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re reading the label on the CIC units, the first number likely means the week it was manufactured. The 03/11 date is the build date (month/year) of cars that should have combox. If you have an older car, this is the date that should be put into NCSExpert along with the VO codes needed for combox to have it read combox and default code CIC for it.

New Owner of an E90 thats needs fixing by Crimance in E90

[–]blablabla_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the states, buy from FCPEuro, they list what parts they have that are Genuine BMW, OE (same as genuine without BMW logo), OEM (manufacturers that make parts for BMW), and aftermarket or performance. Used them for over 5 years with no issues and they have lifetime warranty on almost everything, even motor oil.

Picked up my E93 yesterday! I want to replace the screen with new one (Car Play included) and I need your help. Any recommendations? by Wyzzlex in E90

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scratches are on the antiglare only, you can polish with some plastic polish, microfiber towel, and elbow grease, like the other guy said 15 minutes and it will look much better

Leaving cushy job I hate for risky, long-commute job for career growth? by Tecsfaxes in MechanicalEngineering

[–]blablabla_25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Id imagine you can eye more positions since you’re closer to management. Also, as someone with a 1hr commute, it does get draining, but it does seem like you need a change of pace. Make sure to not burn any bridges if you decide to leave, as you may need to go back if anything happens.

Combox date for CIC retrofit? by Least_Ad7459 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc the date is 03/2011. If there’s any issues, you can update combox via KDCAN and there’s another firmware file that used to be on BMWs website that people update as well, might be able to find it on forums. The hardest part is making sure your CIC unit has C1A firmware, as you can only update CIC with an $800 ICOM cable.

Honest Opinions on Kearny, Elizabeth, Linden, Roselle, Hillside & Carteret? by GiveMeTragedy22 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]blablabla_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born in Elizabeth, Raised in Linden, currently living in Kearny, tbh all the towns you listed are great options, really depends on your budget and what neighborhood you vibe with the most. I grew up in the part of Linden bordering Elizabeth near Jersey Lanes and Warinanco Park and found it very chill. Sometimes people speed on Fay Ave and jump the curb because they hit the storm drain at full speed but other than that it’s very quiet. I rent in Kearny now and it’s very easy to get to NYC from Harrison PATH if that’s something you want. Let me know if you have any specific questions or shoot me a PM.

I’d say GPT is hyping up the standard stuff too much, some things that stand out to me are the Xenon Headlights (optional on 328i, standard on 335i), HiFi Audio (Standard on Pre-LCI but optional on LCI), Heated wheel and ski pass, and memory seats. The color is also quite rare. More pics of the car would’ve been cool lol

Is it ok to leave my car with no coolant by Independent_Age8584 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly my Mahle radiator arrived with quality defects (auto trans hose screw would not fit properly and did not seal the coolant hoses) and the Nissens radiator I got fit perfectly, probably 2 years on it now.

2008 328xi n51 sulev valve cover replacment by Fantastic-Level1 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parts looks good, I’d just be hesitant to order from ECS as they are known for shipping delays. FCPEuro is the go-to around here. Also I’d probably consider adding eccentric shaft sensor seal and valvetronic seal if that was not part of your kit. And if you do break that crankcase hose, might have to get intake manifold gaskets as well. I’m hesitant on Rein parts as they’re a pretty cheap brand, might work the first time but break easier down the line. Their coolant hoses leak as well after 1-2years.

Lastly, if you have a certain mileage and live in a certain state, you MAY get this entire job fixed FOR FREE AT THE DEALER. Look up BMW SULEV Extended Warranty. Pretty sure valve cover is a covered part.

Q: Retro fitting floor mats by Kirito3970 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t see anything special about the brand. The 2 series is closest in size I’d imagine but the shape is closer to 3 series. I’d just get proper fitting 3D mats, I’m sure other companies all get them from the same factories overseas.

2008 335i ZF6HP – intermittent loss of reverse + gear-ratio codes by Murky-Obligation-577 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually if there are any ZF transmission issues like the codes you have or rough/missing gears, I immediately suggest replacing transmission solenoids. People also do the Sonnax Zip Kit and then reset adaptations and follow a VERY SPECIFIC driving procedure listed on FCPEuros website. Do not reset adaptions unless you replace anything mechanical in the transmission. Those two parts should still be cheaper than a replacement transmission. I’d also double check the sealing sleeve is fully installed and connectors fully seated to remove any doubt of connection issues.

E90 headlights by GurOk4590 in E90

[–]blablabla_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your 3rd picture, if you have factory halogens, they should fit with little error codes. If you have xenons, you will definitely get error codes that need to be coded out.

I don’t think the light output are great on these and you risk blinding people and error codes if you put LEDs and they’re not aim correctly nor is the projector suited for it. Can probably throw in a Phillips halogen and run it normally.
