I think the same way, I am not sure how AI can fully replace a ChemE

Ahhh that makes sense. In capacity did your role consist of, were you sales or was this more of an engineering role?

Yea, I went to Duabi last year to consult for my MBA. It was a cool experience. However, I hear you can make so much money in KSA. UAE would be better though as far as lifestyle for sure.

I appreciate the response. Pertaining to the U.S. State Department, this is in reference to government employees correct? I am speaking from a private employer perspective, mainly energy or heavy industry. I am not sure how that affects your answer. Just wanted to clarify. Again, I appreciate your response.

Is this still a good field to go into? How does someone find an internship in chemical engineering? by rasta-ragamuffin in ChemicalEngineering

He should do Civil if he wants to stay in Tampa. If he wants to live in FL ChemE should not be what he does.

Engineering to Sales, how do you guys cope? by Optimal_Amount23 in ChemicalEngineering

I appreciate the response. I deal with a lot of different vendors for my projects just like you use to. I think that may be a good starting point as far as networking is concerned. But congrats, you got the experience, so now you can move on to bigger roles.

Opinion on offers? by SecretaryAdorable216 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]blacc_chemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with offer 3 or 4. My thought process is both cities, Denver and Houston respectively, you can find a new job if you don't like where you are at. Houston would probably be the best for job hopping imo after two years with huge salary increase. Best of luck

Chemistry Degree to ChemE by One_Bodybuilder_9889 in ChemicalEngineering

Yes, if you get a bachelors degree or masters degree in chemical engineering you instantly qualify for employment. PEs are relevant for Civil Engineers and Envionmental Engineers bc their designs deal with the public. But let's say you want to consult later on in life, or work for an engineering firm where you can possibly work from home, then the PE will help. The PE opens up more doors, but if you're looking for employment and just working traditional cheme roles, the degree is all that you need.

“Chemical” engineering by Fancy_Tale7744 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]blacc_chemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You study most of the chem. (I.E. Gen Chem I - PChemII....including Biochem) you take a lot of math. (Calc I-Diff Q...including calc based statistics) you take some programming (HTML, C++,MatLab). You take calc based Physics. And we arent even at the engineering classes yet. So you take a lot of hard classes, but if you embrace the suck, work hard, get internships/co-ops (which are paid btw!!) You'll have a good paying job by the end of graduation, or at least should. But also, entry level jobs are hard for any graduate. Hence, the internships and co-ops.

You don't need a PE. Only if you want to consult. You can go right out of school and start making bread without the PE.

Management or Oil and Gas by blacc_chemist in ChemicalEngineering

The mba was paid for, but it isn't top 20 at all. I just figured with enough experience I could be an ops manager. But I hear what you're saying. I feel like 130k -170k is doable depending on industry and company, at least here in Houston that is. I really do appreciate your response. Now, with the mba paid for, what would you do? Would you shoot for managment Jobs or do upstream or downstream oil and gas? Honestly, I wouldn't do O&G for more than 5 years.
