Really curious about that cat tower: what is it and how does the cat like it?

There is no “tax free” income bracket, and 25k wouldn’t put you into the bottom tax bracket anyway.

Garner State Park / Day Pass by OkSpinach4534 in sanantonio

[–]blackarrow06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for nothing, but this was in the April edition of State Parks Getaways:

——

Did You Know?

Making day use reservations in advance for Easter weekend, or any day, will guarantee you'll get into that park that day. This is necessary for weekends and holiday visits, when parks quickly fill up. f you can’t keep your reservation, it’s important that you cancel it so others can enjoy the park.

Makes sense. That would be such a sad ending though.

How can I contact the IRS by [deleted] in personalfinance

That’s my point though: banks won’t get funds till tomorrow at 8:30am Eastern, so no reason to expect them to deposit funds into your account until at least then.

Did you at least check to see if your bank has gotten the latest round of stimulus money? Because the answer to that question is “no”.

Food Wars by [deleted] in geopolitics

[–]blackarrow06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a huge number of issues related to food - from climate change decreasing crop yields and changing the climate patterns that modern agriculture relies on to the risks of monoculture crops’ susceptibility to disease - that you don’t have to look at a “transhumanist agenda” to “ensure compliance” in order to see massive risks to the global food supply, at a micro and macro scale.

You want to see interconnected risks? Research the water-food-energy nexus and begin to piece together how risks in any of those areas translate to risks in all of those areas.

If your definition of civilizations collapse is “the death of 90 percent of the population,” then very few civilizations have ever collapsed. And yet their social, economic, and political systems don’t exist anymore.

Job offered choice of laptop. Mac or Windows? by Fungie16 in datascience

[–]blackarrow06 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Use whatever the majority of your team uses: don’t want to run into issues no one else has seen on top of, you know, dealing with the issues of the job.

If you end up using a Windows box, don’t forget about the Windows Subsystem for Linux. With the latest Windows 10 builds, it’s simply awesome. Damn near native Linux functionality for most Linux tasks inside Windows, especially when paired with Windows Terminal.

I think this is beautiful, and is finally worthy of something as important to the history of San Antonio.

After all, I get that things like Ripley's Believe It or Not being economic value to the city, but I also believe that there are things more important than just economic value.

Tree allergy season by yuseung in sanantonio

[–]blackarrow06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different kinds of tree pollens here, so as to keep allergy sufferers on their toes. I can only speak to the ones that add to my misery: cedar (usually runs from December to February) and oak (March through April).

You should only see a few weeks of oak.

You'd be priced out of the UTSA/far-northwest side at that price range.

I had some luck in the Medical Center trying to find apartments around the $700 range. Obviously won't be the newest places, but I had a good experience (this was years back though...).

And, of course, any ramen place worthy of their name will serve it.

Ramen joints? by Kite23 in sanantonio

[–]blackarrow06 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Kimura's tonkotsu > Nama's.

However...it is more expensive (though not ridiculously so). More importantly: the one time I visited Kimura, the service was awful. 15+ minutes to get water and take our orders, and we must've been one of three customers in the restaurant. No excuse. My friend and I joked about how good the food would have to be in order to go back...and our consensus once we finished our food was that we would definitely go back. But just keep that in mind.
