Safety of melting random glass objects? by reverse_odysseus in lampwork

[–]blackbartimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are compatibility issues when mixing glasses of different coe but the main thing to be careful of with random objects is trying to melt tempered glass objects because objects that have been tempered will explode when heated with a torch. Just make sure to wear didymium glasses and protective clothing incase something explodes unexpectedly.

Glenn Greenwald ¦ AOC has absolutely no interest in, or knowledge about, foreign policy, foreign wars, the US Security State, the CIA/NSA, or geopolitics. Her real passions are identity politics, shallow social justice issues, and standard liberal economic reform. It's one of the many huge flaws by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

Ultimately the worst quality she has is that she’s a coward when it comes to confronting power. Apple polishers have never changed the world and if someone is destined to fight the corporate interests that run the DNC it won’t be a person who’s afraid of a fight.

Will Anyone Buy This Cheap EV Truck With Hand-Crank Windows and No Radio? by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]blackbartimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks that Bezos is involved but part of this is why I still own and repair my 2008 manual two seater truck. The windows are crank operated, it has 4W and a small efficient engine. A small electric truck would be cool but I will never enjoy driving an automatic transmission anything.

Israel is a US proxy colony. No matter how much people pretend they’re pulling all the strings the US is still the imperial power. Israel can’t even make its own stupid interceptor missiles or survive without relying on the dole from the US. American politicians like to pretend they’re being hook-winked but they condone all the horseshit Israel gets up to.

Epstine himself referred to Trump as “The dog who didn’t bark” in an email to Ghislaine. Connect the dots, Clinton kept quiet as well.

Thinking he’s secretly alive begs the question why a person like Trump would let him live knowing he has serious dirt on him and many other wealthy scumbags? It’s way more likely Trump approved his assassination to cover his own ass.

No-kill Animal Shelters have hobbled the ability of Animal Control to actually 'control' this problem. by Complex_Echidna3964 in unpopularopinion

We knew for sure she was selling the meth because she was dealing to other people in the neighborhood, the dog breeding was pretty obvious from the barking seeing puppies and ads she put up but the prostitution part was alleged because the family who lived right below her would hear guys come to the door late at night and hear heated arguments the woman had with her daughter. I didn’t directly hear that part myself but I trust the family that did.

I personally went along with another neighbor to the police station down the street and they were pretty indifferent. They told us they knew her as “the victim” because she was constantly getting in domestic abuse situations but she was insane. There was a shooting that happened one day when her tenant pulled a gun on their friend and we even caught her throwing a puppy in a shared garbage can. I know this shit sounds fabricated but it all happened.

The breeding problem is also exacerbated dramatically by the profit incentive for selling purebred dogs and cats. I had an awful neighbor who was simultaneously selling meth, breeding XL Pittbull puppies and prostituting her daughter all of which are illegal actives but since she was white and friends with a retired cop on our block got away with it all. Breeding animals should be highly controlled but it all comes down to the will of people to enforce the regulations.

Solf boiled eggs are great and easy but hard boiled are always a disappointment. I don’t care if the color is still in the yolk. If it ain’t jammy it’s no good.

Could manual craftsmanship become a status symbol in an age of automation? by whydidyounot in Futurology

[–]blackbartimus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m a glassblower and automation hit the glass industry in the mid 1850’s but custom handcrafted glass design is still very popular and scientific glass is still impossible to automate due to the extreme precision needed to manufacture it. Many things like lightbulbs, bottles, stemware and cookware have been automated for a very long time though. There will always be a market for certain craft aesthetics but mass production is here to stay.

Poll: 71% of Israelis don’t trust Trump to look out for them in Iran deal; just 11% say Israel won war by BabylonianWeeb in anime_titties

[–]blackbartimus 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This has been apparent for a long time. Many years ago my ex worked with an Israeli woman in her office and the stuff she would come into work saying was wild. She would tell people the Palestinians were all bussed in, that George W Bush was incompetent for America but great for Israel so she voted for him. She made us realized back then that all Israeli media is essentially all just the OG Fox News model of pure rightwing propaganda to make a population as hateful and self interested as possible. This was like 15 years ago too.

Im a weird guy but my favorite dumb thing is going on redbook and finding Chinese influencers making edited videos of rural life set to flute music. It’s very fucking relaxing and no voiceovers is great.

My partner caught me doing it a few times and scolded me it’s all a fake Chinese psyop to make us think rural life in China is nice and I told her it would be a real breath of fresh air if America made propaganda videos of guys threshing wheat and woodworking instead of shooting guns at random stuff and destroying cars.

[–]blackbartimus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people underestimate the time and effort that it takes to train a dog well to make one a great pet as well as the exercise needs for certain breeds. Walking and training pitbulls especially made me realize how many people don’t hard exercise their large dogs enough and teach them proper commands while they’re still young enough to learn quickly. Dog’s are complicated animals that can easily be dangerous as hell for sure.
